I have written on this site a few times and I have loved the support you ladies (and some gents) have given me. Well, after feeling tired and gaining steadily depite all my efforts, I went to the doc who ran a bunch of tests and saw that I had Hashimotos disease. Its another name for hypothyroidism and the worst part of it is that apparantly T4 and T3 dont really help this type of problem.

so now I am more discouraged, more sad, and feel lost. The doc said I have to work out like crazy and eat really clean just to maintain my weight.

I'm at 25% body fat now (was under 20 last year) and 136 pounds (was 125).

anyone have any experience or have advise for me

thanks

I am hypo - on synthroid for it.

I don't have a lot of time to type out right now, but Shadow recommended I look into taking Guggulsterones to help raise thyroid function. You can PM me for some ideas also ....

thanks Daisy,

I dont have PM abilities I think cause I'm not a plat. member.

Where did you get the Guggulsterones from?

Check online or local supp store. I cannot find it local ..... will likely order it from bodybuilding.com (the NOW brand).

I am VERY to sorry to hear about your disorder. I too suffer from hypothyroidism and has been the WORST experience trying to get my levels evened out. Make sure you have REALLY researched the disorder and that meds cannot help. I am an odd case in which the synthroid put me in a coma like state...had three car accidents in three weeks...kept falling asleep behind the wheel! The doctor then put me on a combination of synthroid and cytomel....CHANGED MY LIFE! I have to take three pills a day, evenly spread out...but I feel much better....You should not have to live this way...low thyroid can lead to depression and I will be the first to tell you it did not make me a very happy camper :) Good Luck to you!!! You may want to consider seeking the advice of a "natural" doctor, there are a number of natural meds that can increase thyroid function.
HT

Are your thyroid levels low? Hashimoto’s disease (Chronic Thyroiditis) does not always mean hypothyroidism. But it can lead to thyroid deficiency (hypothyroidism.) If there is a deficiency now, thyroid replacement eg. synthroid, levothyroxine can help elevate your levels. Synthroid is a common treatment for peole with hypothyroidism caused by Hashimotos.

I have a completely inactive thyroid and have been on synthroid for 20 years. Quite frankly synthroid has been my miracle drug. If I miss my medicine for even 2 days in a row there is a difference. HT can lead to depression, weight gain, even obesity. It's not something you can fight. It's a very serious condition which does require meds. However, many people diagnosed with Hashimotos do not have a thyroid deficiency yet, therefore no treatment is necisary... close monitoring of your T3/T4/TSH levels is. Keep on top of your doctor! Many doctors treat thyroid problems like they are nothing. Maybe try an endocrinologist. Read labels... many OTC meds can aggrivate your condition.

Oh & GOOD LUCK!!

thanks all for your support......

the medication starts tomorrow, T4 and T3 together. I just want the saddness and fatigue to go away. And you are so right about doctors, cause they just wanted to dismiss my hashimoto's cause eventhough I have the anti-bodies that attack my thyroid saying that they cant medicate until it gets worse.

fingers crossed!!

one more question...
I have done so much research on med for hypo and when I read up about t3 taken alone, many of the body building sites say it eats up your muscle. Not that I have alot but will 12.5mgs of t3 do that?
should I take albuterol with it to stop that from happening while I up my weight training session?
