i like your 2c :)

unfortunatley my gym doesn't even have a pecdeck yet :(...it just opened up in my building. i don't know how many hockey fans are out there but the owner is ken daneyko (def spelled his name wrong) from the devils....

i'll def save side laterals for after i do rear delts or start out my shoulder workouts with them :)

Every time I go to VT, I think of that scene.......one of the times I'm driving along & I see a car coming up behind me & I wasn't sure if they were police lights or a ski rack......well it was a cop & when he passed me I started giggling, thinking "Littering and......Littering and...." WOW I had that same conversation yesterday.. Except my PB is a not a female!!! I get the crunchy a bit more rough around the edges... ;)
At any rate it was a heart filled break-up but I'm better off... it was good while it lasted!

ok....so i've been experiencing some lower abdominal pain....or should i say strain the last few days....not really sure what it could be. it's actually a little lower sometimes....i'm guessing my blatter region? i have noticed that my back is getting progressively worse....bending over to pick up a piece of paper is painful. i realize when i do this i've been straining my lower ab region and even a little lower (not sure what the name is anatomically speaking...tre a little help??) to ease my back pain. hopefully that is what this strain is....but it could be something else.

at my last doc visit i was told that i have a herniated naval...my father has it and my sister had it after she gave birth so i'm guessing it's genetics. anyway...this might be it as well....i have to go get a check up and see what's up...prob early next week.

this is so frustrating for me you have no idea...i used to play every sport you can imagine...played collegiate tennis for villanova freshman year then blew out my knee next summer. i blew it out 2 more times before i decided to call it quits with sports...then i started lifting seriously...within 2 years i blew my shoulder out....then a year after that one is fixed i tear my other labrum in my other shoulder...then a little after that i get diagnosed with degenerative disks in my lower back l-4 and l-5. it's like someone up there doesn't want me to look good naked lol.

i don't know...just needed to vent....i've worked so hard at this kind of lifestyle and it seems there is always a setback...then i'm out of action and i have to start all over...

diet and training log to come later....

oh...also, if anyone know any reputable sports doctors and orthopedics in the nyc area please let me know...i'm tired of going to therapy places where they don't undertstand my lifestyle...i hate the "why are you lifting such heavy weights?" question....and the "you don't need to lift weights....just stretch and do some light machines et cetera et cetera"

prob going to a neurologist as well...the back pain is seeping into my legs and toes....i think maybe it has effected my sciatica. i'm not fawking around with this b.s. anymore...
 
Does it hurt when you walk?
Does it hurt bilaterally or more to one side?
When you twist?
Do you remmeber when the pain first occurred?
What were you doing?
What did you do the day before?
How do you sleep? Which side?
Does it take your breath away?
Describe the pain... achey, dull, sharp?
Have you taken and Ibuprofen or the like for the pain?

Definitely suggest hitting the doctor to see if it's the hernia thing... but if it's not.... I would think it is do to the weight lifting and possibly a muscle imbalance.

As far as the numbness down the legs... that could be the glutes overly tight (piriformis muscle specifically-Which you can work on stretching). Or a muscle in the back where the nerve root is located and the the nerve could be compressed against another muscle or a bone. Is the numbness bilateral or unilateral??

O.k.
Dull achey pain = Nothing to be worried about. It's more of a chronic type pain.
Sharp and accute = More serious and needs to be evaluated.

Where is the quick little pinch located that you speak of?

Ibuprofen is not bad to take. I prefer not to take some harder core stuff like muscle relaxers, or antibiotics unless it's a last resort. The IB can help decrease the inflammation in a muscle and help alleviate the pain. Especially if it's an inflammed muscle pressing on a nerve and you are considering going to a neoropathologist. I would also... consider laying on your back on a heating pad knees propped on a pillow for 15 minutes, followed by back stretching. The cat stretch, stretching to the sides, knees into chest.. How much stretching do you do??? I would also hit the hamstrings, piriformis, and hamstrings. Have you been squatting heavy or doing dead lifts. Have you also been doing any low back strengthening exercises?

So muscularly speaking without actually seeing this:
A) your lower back is in an over contracted state. The abs will be over stretched because the back muscles will be pulling your pelvis back stretching them. You typically will feel pain in an overly stretched muscle vs. a contracted one.
B) Which if the low back muscles are tight then they could be compressing the nerve roots and nerves running through the muscles in the back and glutes creating the tingling down the legs.

i'm sure i'm over reacting but i just want to make sure i don't have anything serious ya know

i'm sure it's a combo of my degenerative disks, and herniated naval that's causing the pain....i mean i notcied a few times when i bent over to pick something up that it was straing the lower abs and pelvic region to avoid my lower back pain.

Do you mean pinching or a pulling/tugging feeling? The words kind of confirm to me... not a doctor... that the muscles are overstretched. If you have degenerated discs in your back... I would not be doing squats... My own opinion. The weight will be spine loaded and cause more degeneration in the discs and potentially slip one. I would do leg press instead where the weight is bore through the hips. I will emphasize stretching to you.
Are you sure you have a herniated naval? This is new to me.. I've never heard of that I'll have to research it. But if it's herniated.. I would think just touching the area with your fingertips or pressing on the area you would feel a localized pain. If you don't... I would kind of negate that as the issue.
 
i mean pinching

i stopped doing squats.....can't handle the stress...also no deads or bentover rows.....basically i stopped all exercises that really build muscle :(

yeah...it's herniated...a doc told me during a check up. i notice it sometimes after i workout...i'll touch it and it hurts....but i think b/c i'm in decent shape it hasn't bothered me to the point where i need to do something about it...

- multi, e-1000iu, b12, 3 scotts finest green tea, gluc, fish oil

yesterday's training

despite my handicaps i think i had a pretty good day in the gym....tried not to do anything that involved bending and everything i did wast strict movement...it's amazing how much more of a pump you get when doing your reps slow and controlled...especially on bicep curls and side laterals.

5:55 8 caps of amp02

6:15 start time
chest
- incline dumbells 2x12 70lbs (shoulder started killing me after the 2nd set...i think i'm done with free weights for chest :()
- hammer strength flat press 2x10 2 plates

back
- wide grip weighted pull ups 1x8 dropped 25lb dumbell and got 2 more 1x6 dropped weight and got 1 more (about 1 1/2 minutes rest btwn sets here)
-close grip pull downs 2x10 160lbs

shoudlers
- smith machine front military presses (usually use barbell but my back is whack :p ) 1x13 155lbs which i'm guessing is about 135lbs if i used the barbell
- one arm side laterals on cables
1x15 in the front
1x12 in the back
***still caused a little pain in the lower back but for the most part it was ok.....stayed away from srhugs or upright rows

arms
- incline curls 2x10 40lbs (biceps looked like extremely vascular after these :))
- lying extensions 1x18 70lbs 1x12 80lbs

didn't do abs b/c my lower abs are sore from compensating for my back....

went on treadmill for 10 minutes 2.5 15% incline

stretched my back and did some therapeutic exercises

done 7:15

- mhp shake w/ 1/2 cup oats
- multi, e-1000iu, b12, 3 scotts finest green tea, gluc, fish oil

meal 2
- 2 cups of eggwhites cooked in a little oilve oil

meal 3
- grilled chicken with brocolli and 1/2 a serving of cheeze whiz
- 2 green tea
- 1 gluc

****rest of the day****

meal 4
- 1 can of tuna

meal 5
- maybe some sliced deli turkey...not sure yet

meal 6
- chicken and a salad

been holding off on a meal before bed if i'm not hungry...most times i'll force some anpb down...and then i have like 3-4 sccops :rolleyes: ...but if i can do without a meal then that's fine...if not a handful of almonds

no cardio today...back hurts and pain is now in the legs area so i have a hot date with my heating pad...maybe things will get freaky and i'll talk dirty...i don't know ...i'm not a doctor :coffee:

I know the feeeeeeeeeling all too well :) Except now its all about the frozen cubes (Thanks T :heart: ) Before that it was ice cream scoop and a jar of PB allll the way :lmao:

What part of your shoulder talks smack during the exercise? Been clinically diagnosised or self observation (like myself).

Heat up real good and do some gentle stretching!!! Knees propped up on pillows
 
clinically diagnosed on both shoulders....torn labrum. got one fixed...need the other one done ....but i ain't going.....i don't need 6 months out of the gym again....drove me nuts...not worth it to me...i get by....that is why i use machines and essentially lift like a p#ssy these days :chomp:

thx bro....i appreciate it....going to post some pics end of next week i think. not too much of a change from when i started this log...maybe a slight improvement in my arms....

it's weird...almost every chest exercise kills my shoudlers...but then i can do moderate weight on military presses.....i can do 70lbs shoulder presses and not have any trouble...but used the 70's for incline and oh my gawd!
 
ok...so dinner was a little different then planned....

came home and the woman had a ton of seafood ready to cook....scallops, cajun catfish, salmon pinwheel with crab meat inside, and shrimp. she has been sick so i have been taking care of her...cleaning...getting medicine etc etc....so i muzzeled a combo of it down with 2 pieces of multigrain bread. a prize i thinki desereved...even though i cooked everything with pam...

His name is boots?! Cute... jp I thought about you during my run today. I say a guy walking his puppy and OMG was it adorable. I LOVE boxers & Mastiffs, this little dizzog was a Mastiff and boy was the friggin adorable... The guy said "have a great run" & as i run away I thought, I hope to gawd this guy didn't think I was interested b/c I adore his puppy, nothing to do with him at all :lmao: = chick magent puppy comment you made :D

I LOVE boxers & Mastiffs, this little dizzog was a Mastiff and boy was the friggin adorable... The guy said "have a great run" & as i run away I thought, I hope to gawd this guy didn't think I was interested b/c I adore his puppy, nothing to do with him at all :lmao: = chick magent puppy comment you made :D


well i'm realistic and i know when chicks come up to me they are interested in one thing and one thing only....my pal boots. i usually try and say nothing so i don't ruin the moment btwn my dog and the girl. taking that stroll down knowyourrole blvd. :rolleyes:

(the real reason why he is named boots is i got him right after i cam back from hunter mountain ski lodge and i met this guy there and they called him boots. he was funny, fat and drank alot...one of the funniest guys i ever met. it was just my luck that my dog has white paws)

i let my friends walk my dog sometimes....lotta hunnies in hoboken :) and they come back thinking the dog is a miracle worker b/c this hot girl started talking to him...so it's possible this guy thought you had a jones for him :qt:

- hammer strength flat press 2x12 2 plates
- incline smith machine 2x14 185lbs

- weighted pullups tried the 30lb dumbell yesterday 1x7 dropped weight and did 1 more then 1x6 dropped weight and did 1 more
- wide grip pull downs 2x12 160lbs

shoudlers
- dumbell presses 1x10 70lbs
- one arm cable side laterals 2x15
- upright rows 1x12 95lbs

arms
- one arm preacher curls 2x15 30lbs
- rope extensions 2x12

legs
- leg presses 2x12 3 plates (remember people i have 3 knee surgeries under my belt lol)

overall workout was pretty good. haven't used the rope in a while for tri's....gotta start throwing that in there every now and again
 
today's diet

meal 1
- mhp shake w/ 1/2 cup oats
- multi, e-1000iu, b12, 3 scotts finest green tea, gluc (ran out ), fish oil

meal 2
- 2 cups of eggwhites cooked in a little oilve oil

meal 3
- grilled catfish (officially never want to eat fish again. can'y wait to eat my can of tuna in about an hour...uuuggggh)

i was extremely close to whipping out the whole wheat bread and spreading half the jar on a slice :chomp:

and a really horrible thing happened to me last night that i forgot to post. i got a knock on my door around 7:30pm..i go to answer it and it's a pizza delivery guy with 2 large pies....i coulld smell the freaking pepperoni permeating through that cardboard prison box! i almost paid for the pizza...obviously he was looking for apartment 2e not 2c it's like someone out there just wants me to fail....i mean come on!! my favorite pizza place knocks on my door with 2 large pies out of the clear blue... :rolleyes:

Ohhhhhh let me tell you how AWESOME that sandwich is!!!!!!!! :p I hadn't ever had Quizno's before and I talked the bf into going in instead of Subway. HA....no comparison. Quizno's beats the crap out of Subway any day of the week!!! Did I say :p yet?!?!?!

Ooooh!! I know that feeling.....what brand?? I LOVE the Crazy Richard's brand....although the Trader Joe's Unsalted Crunchy is becoming #1 pretty quickly.....

ok so i have a bbq to go to today....beirut is inevitable :beer: ...woke up and did 35 minutes treadmill on 15%incline @3.0mph on an empty stomach... holy shit i'm fawking tired lol

had my pwo shake about 20 minutes ago....leaving in about 40 minutes...need to get in another meal before then .....maybe some eggwhites and a small bowl of oatmeal....only food at the bbq will be sausage, hot dogs and burgers...i'll prob have some burgers w/o the bun b/c today isn't really a cheat day :( oh well....i had a great workout this morning and i'll do the same tomorrow. hope everyone has a good weekend

thx bro....yeah i just started the 3 day split a few months ago. i absolutely love it...i'll never go back to back/bis on monday etc etc. i get great pump out it!!!

good morning ck....how is the weekend going?

having some :coffee: :) then getting my arse to the gym for some cardio. pretty much drank all day yesterday :eek2: but i killed it yesterday morning and going to kill it again today on the treadmill....my meals will be pretty clean consisting of:
shakes
chicken
whole wheat pasta
veggies
eggwhites


then rest and relaxation....maybe finish reading my book :)
 
ok...measured my bf% this morning and it read 9.0% did it a few times and it came up with that number 3x in a row. my weight this morning was 163lbs. i'm pretty pumped with these numbers!! not sure if i should continue to keep hacking away and try to get to my goal of 7%-8% or throw in a bulk cycle for like 6 weeks maybe get to like 11% bf and cut again? what is the best thing to do here? i'm in no rush...no dates are set....i'm continuing to see progress throught this diet. ideally i would like to have a bit more bulk on me with the same bf%.... maybe 168-170lbs at 9% instead of 163lbs.... what you guys think? bulk or no bulk?

i have been dieting for about 20 weeks.....(if i didn't drink i prob could have gotten where i'm at in about 15 weeks but oh well.....we need to have fun right?)
