Joint pain with biceps curls.//////////

XCYTER

New member
Whenever I do heavy biceps curls, I get an aching in the crook of my arm, right at my elbow(top side) I guess this would be where the muscle attaches to the joint.
Anyone know something i could do to fix it?

go to a massage place and get it worked on. Trust me, it will work for sure. It might just be scar tissue and they will be able to get that out. Its worth checking out.

I have the same problem, sometimes it radiates to my forearm. I get some ben-gay or icy/hot and apply it about 1/2 hour before exercising. Make sure you warm up good so you don't tear something.

I had the same problem bro! You need to get some supplements for your joints, which help them heal and recover and a faster pace. Get you some Glucosamine/Chondroitin, it will eliminate the pain, but it will take about 2 weeks to fully get into your system to start working. It helped me, I no longer have any pain in my joints. Good Luck, Bro.

I'm with buffdawg on this one. I had the same problem from years of baseball and football, combined with lifting. Take the gluc/chond supps, and keep taking them even when the pain is gone. Also when doing bicep work try do limited exercises, if any, witht e straight bar. That tends to cause my elbow to really flare up. As for the forearm pain, that comes and goes for me, jsut a part of lifting I guess.

Same/Same, I use this msm-glucosomine, and yeah it will take a week or so to get into your system good. I had the same issue with the main tendon on the inside portion of the elbow...2 weeks after starting on the msm-gluc the pain was gone.

Good luck bro,

Take time to ice the area at least twice a day and use a racket ball to squeeze (arm bent and arm straight)...go back to 12-15 reps while you are doing this therapy, and keep it at once a week..this will keep you bi's in shape and help strengthen tendons ligaments. If you use a barbell to curl you may consider changing to EZ curl (wide grip). A barbell is one of the main causes of forearm /elbow pain in lifters, especially the one that shoots up the middle of the forearm and feels like bone is breaking. Anyway..try this for 4 -6 weeks and you should be golden..if not,,go to a PT.

I'll vote on the MSM & glucosamine. I had nasty problems w/ my elbows due to some ridiculous overtraining supervised by a dummass trainer, resulting in tendonitis & joint pain in everything from shoulders to wrists. 2 weeks of MSM did wonders. If you are "older" you might also consider GH to help w/ that as well.

the exact same pain on inside elbow

used this and pain stopped in 2 weeks never to return

best part is its been 2 years and havent used it since
pick one up at an acadamy store or do a search on dyna ball on google to order on line

also use glucosimine

i get the same problem, but only while on cycle. i havent done anything about it yet. but ive found that there is no problem at all while off cycle. i just try and bear it when im on. you could try some advil before your workouts. but you never know if it could be something serious, so it would be best to get it checked before u try and mask it, cause that could make it worse.

I really appreciate bro's, Ive been dealing with this thing since I was in high school. (10yrs.) Im gonna try this stuff and Ill let you know how it goes.
Again....thnx.

Dude,
Listen to me, I know exactly what you are talking about.
I had the same pain for 6 years... I went to a doctor and a PT. They used cortasone which helped for a few weeks. I tried doing lighter curls for weeks, i tried freaking everything for 6 years.

My pain is from years of rock climbing and lifting weights.

The pain all went away after the 3rd week of 400 mg/wk of Deca.
I was so happy! Its been 2 months and I am just now coming off the Deca. But for the last 2 months I have been able to BLAST the crap outta my biceps, lifting EXTREMELY heavy at every workout!!!! I went from 15 to 16.5 inch arms already in 2 months.
It is so awesome no longer having to live with this pain. I will do whatever it takes to not have this pain again.
I had to "baby" my bicep workouts for 6 years and it pissed me off.
Also I did buy that Dynaball thing too. I think it definitely helped too, I would buy one of those too. Its a great forearm workout.

I wish my doctor from 6 years ago would have had the BALLS to prescribe Deca back when I really needed it. The pain used to be unbearable and never ending 24/7. No matter what I did.

If you want to try natural supplements, here you go:

1000 mg/day of glucosamine sulfate (make sure it is the sulfate, not the HCL or N-Acetyl version; additionally, I have recommended a somewhat lowish dose as glucosamine sulfate has been linked to insulin resistance; 1500 - 2000 mgs is the most commonly studied dose; if you don't care about potential additional fat storage, go with 2000 mgs/day)

2000 mg/day of chondroitin sulfate (works through a different pathway, has some anti-inflammatory properties; most commonly studied dosage is 1000 - 1500 mgs; bumped up dosage to offset smaller dosage of glucosamine)

1000 mg/day over 4 doses of niacinamide (a vitamin B derivative)

10 grams/day of hydrolized collagen (in use over a 1000 years for joint pain)

Forget MSM, it's just expensive aspirin.

P.S. It takes about 4-6 wks for you to feel the above-mentioned items; the joints have a relatively low blood flow, so it takes time...

P.P.S. Deca worked for my elbow (before I put the research in on the above stack). But I do currently use the above joint stack.

P.P.P.S. Don't do the type of curl that is bugging it anymore.
