We're all attorneys here and obviously know exactly what we're talking about, but IMO murder 2 shouldn't ever have been brought up. Murder 3 and manslaughter seemed likely and reasonable and the state should have gone after that instead of what the media wanted.
 
Interesting Statistics:

- Between 1976 and 2011 there were 279,384 African American murder victims
- In that same date range, 262,621 were murdered by other African Americans
- 94% were murdered by other African Americans
- African Americans make-up only 13 percent of the nation’s population
- African Americans account for more than 50 percent of homicide victims.

So interestingly enough, the first high-profile case in many years regarding an African American murder is done by a white guy. What are the chances?

I'm willing to run the numbers. Who was the last African American murdered who received this much attention by the media?

This will be an interesting stats project.

I'm sorry, I'm confused about the part where you said Zimmerman is a white guy.
 
The media is presenting zimmerman as white. If they say it enough times people might believe it

We cant blame the justice system. if anything you need to look at the prosecution for not being able to prove it beyond all reasonable doubt. In my eyes the system was not flawed here but actually did its job and Im happy the jury didn't fall prey to all the social media hype and made their decision on the facts presented to them.

Yup. Again, dangerous precedent being set. What I do appreciate, though, is that the jury reached a conclusion that obviously wasnt swayed by the very public hullabaloo regarding the case. Agree or disagree with the verdict you have to respect the jury deciding it based only on the facts presented to them at trial.

So what's next? He's too young for the GOP to nominate him for president in 2016. Perhaps the party will encourage him to run for a seat in the House?

Upon further research:

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - The defense attorney for De'marquise Elkins filed a motion asking the judge to force prosecutors to hand over the entire Georgia Bureau of Investigation report on the murdered baby's parents: Louis Santiago and Sherry West.

You'll remember West says that she was shot in the March 21st incident and Santiago says he was shopping at Walmart when it happened and wasn't there.

But the GBI recently found traces of gunshot residue, or GSR, on both parents.

According to the report, "this supports the possibility that the individual discharged a firearm, was in close proximity to a firearm upon discharge or came into contact with an item whose surface bears GSR.”

In the report investigators noted that the particles found "also may originate from occupational and/or industrial sources."

Neither Sherry nor Louis has ever been considered a suspect in the shooting.

Over the phone, Sherry West told WJXT reporter Vic Micolucci that the residue found on her must have come from the struggle she says that happened with the teens charged in the murder: De'marquis Elkins and Dominique Lang.

She says she didn't know why the test would come back positive for her baby’s father, Louis Santiago, but insists he was not there.

By the way, West and Santiago are no longer together and WJXT couldn't reach him because he's in jail, being held without bond on charges of aggravated stalking related to family violence and violation of probation.

The case is set to go to trial August 19th.

I got no issue with someone putting Spitzer on tv, but it's his running again. Same with Weiner. BUt the worst was Sanford. That guys wife was willing to take him back and work on the relationship but his mistress texts him that she's in town and he actually had the shnuts to ask his wife if he could go see her. She threw him out. Then he runs and wins office and is now engaged to said argentine whoore. The whole state of south Carolina has zero credibility with me anymore. That's supposed to be the bible belt and this dude who makes Spitzer look like Tebow get's re elected? You've got to fuckin kidding me. And I hope people call Weiner mayor dickprint if he wins.
 
I hope weiner and eric holder run for office in 2016 so my road is littered with signs reading 'Weiner-Holder 2016 Let's get a grip on things'
