It's Official: SUV owners survive crashes 50% better

I suppose you have some facts (i.e. Smart Car crast statistics) to back up this claim?

"The big question from consumers is, ‘How safe is it?'", says Institute president Adrian Lund. "All things being equal in safety, bigger and heavier is always better. But among the smallest cars, the engineers of the Smart did their homework and designed a high level of safety into a very small package."

-- Adrian Lund, President of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, May 14, 2008.

This backs up your claim that it's a "death trap"?

But all things are seldom equal.

At this point you're just grasping at straws trying to cling to your belief system.

When it comes to safety, bigger is better.

You're not one of those guys who believes "It's not the size of the ship, it's the motion of the ocean." as well do you? Because that isn't true either.

Again, only when all else is equal. A poorly-designed, older big vehicle is at no advantage, apart from the amount of damage it can do. It won't protect its own driver as it crumbles around him. Mass is not everything.

Sorry to disappoint, but I'm a lousy lay. If this is a proposition, uh, no thanks, you're not really my type.

Well of course a poorly-designed older vehicle will be less safe. But that is true in any weight class. Guess what? If you lay across the back window sideways and unrestrained you'll be less safe too.

Weren't you the one making accusations of ridiculous arguments on post #81?
