Is this brand of protein any good? (help)

I just bought a big 6 pound tub of "Human Development Technologies"whey protein. It was buy 5 lbs, get 1 lb free.

However what I was annoyed about is the calories in 1 serving:

Calories 132
Protein 21g
Carbs 10g
Fat 2g
Sodium 65mg
Potassium 118mg

ingredients: Whey Protein Concentrate, Maltodextrin, Fructose, Dutch Process Coca, Natural and Artifical Flavors, Acesulfame Potassium, Stevia Rebaudiana

Now the calories from the protein are only 63% of the total calories. This seems pretty crappy to me. Plus it has Maltodextrin.

Well, any advice is appreciated. Anyone ever use this stuff? I'm about to just go back and return it for some Designer.

Those fuckin pricks are trying to make it look like they have a 6lb protein tub, but they don't. They have added carbs to make it 6lbs. That is why the carb content is very high per serving. The nutriitonal stats on that 6lb thing are similar to the nutritional stats on most MRP's on the market.

If you were looking for cheap high content protein, you would have been better off buying WPC from protein factory or maybe a split of that and casein or another high quality protein fromt them. Another way is to buy optimum 5lb tubs, www.nutritionmegastore.com and www.completesupplements.com has them for 23 flat. For some reason nutritionmegastore isnt working right now. Also nutritionmegastore.com has Big Whey from next proteins for 21.99 ,5lbs. But that has a lower protein content that optimum.

Don't worry, HDT, Next proteins, protein factory, optimum, ultimate nutrition, etc are all known brands. Even if their are some unknown brands out their that have a little ad in the back of a magizine they still probably are legit. Many rumors start from rivial supplement companies,or people who are with the statement " you get what you pay for". I am pretty sure that optimum, next, pf,ultimate, eas 5lb have approx no less/no more label errors than the more expensive proteins do. Even the ones in the back of the magizines are probably legit, other supplement companies got the belief in peoples head that if their unknown their cheating you. It may be true, but if it is ,probably very very rare cases.

Notice how HDT shows they have more carbs in the nutritionl fact label, and in the indregients, it is shown they have added carbs. IF they were going to lie about it,they probably would say that it has only 4 grams of carbs per serving or another bogus number

Yeah I returned that shit today.. Too many calories for me and its not like they even added to the taste. It tasted like straight up cake batter which isn't the taste I'm looking for.

Here's a suggestion, I have ried this 5+1 protein and I used it as a meal replacement. two servings equals what you'd find in most MRP anyway(42pro., 20 carb, 4fat). This company is not co bad, it's just hasn't been around as long as some. If MRP are your thing, this is very cost efficent.:D

I personally cannot comment on the quality of HDT protein, so please forgive my divergence. However, I have done some research on other brands of whey protein and have found some interesting information. My old brand of protein did not have an independant lab analysis to show it's purity, so when I pursued it with them they acted like it was no big deal and never returned my call. So I dropped them like a bad habit and went with a company that has better track records.

I won't name names, but the company I decided on is the same company that provides the protein and other supplements for pharmaceutical and medical health research.

Here's a suggestion that may really help in your quest to get enough protein and save money. Research the internet for reliable and high quality supplement companies (by the way, they are usually not widely known). Request packets of information and you'll likely see that most of them do carry whey protein. If they have a good wholesale price, then call and see what you need to set up a wholesale account with them. Some of them don't really require much more than a signature. But the benefits of at least checking is definitely worthwhile. The supplement company that I now use for protein sells me a kilo of whey for ten bucks. The protein is ultra filtered and has 24 grams per scoop. Two containers for me is a month's supply. Plus with some wholesale accounts shipping is free. Also, they sell 4 pounds of creatine like in cell tech for 20 bucks.

But to be honest, you can get nearly that cheap at dps nutrition. I think they had the five pound container of prolab whey protein for about 25 bucks. Plus they have a creatine like cell tech in an 8 pound container for about 25 bucks I think. Anyway, it's worth a shot.

Bottom line is that if you do some searching you can find great deals from great companies.

Good luck!

I have used the HDT 5+1 protein and it tastes like SHIT plus to many carbs per serving when trying to cut.
