Is pot the only cool drug? No. This whole world is high on something and the legal/illegal line is arbitrary and meaningless. And caffeine is definitely a drug. It's a stimulant and I've used it, as well as cocaine, amphetamine, and methamphetamine to study or perform, and it is surprising how similar they all are to each other as far as results (not saying risk is the same).

Make an estimate of the percentage of Americans who are never under the influence of any drug. No pot, no alcohol, no caffeine, no prescription tranquilizers, antidepressants, sleep aids, pain killers, steroids, anxiety drugs, etc.

I'd guess that 9 out of 10 people use some kind of drug that has cognitive effects. And for the most part, society completely accepts them, so there are lots of "cool" drugs as far as society is concerned.

I definetely agree, with execption it's not just Americans, the whole world is high on something ( and not even counting religion here ). I can't think of any civilization with culture that didn't involve drug use in some level...
Of course there are quite major differences, but everywhere is, or atleast has been some form of drug culture.
