Is PB okay for cutting?

Xtreme2001

New member
I'm finishing my dieting in 2 weeks.. I'm trying to keep it clean.. no cheat days, but I'm getting cravings with all this PB talk :)

Would it put a down fall on my dieting? Say I eat one sandwhich in the a.m. sometime... Would it harm my diet.

hell yah,i have natural pb for my last 2meals of the day mixed with 1/2cup cottage cheese and i am cutting.........taste mad good but can get addictive :/

peanut butter + bread while cutting

that is not the most efficient diet :D

Xtreme- get rid of the bread, but eat the pb. It's all healthy fat. The bread is worse while cutting than pb.

What else are you eating cause it sounds like you could use some help.

peanut butter fat is good fat. i have it with wheat bread that has high fibar and an enourmous glass of milk. works wonders for muscle gain and fat loss.

Unless you're on an atkins type diet, natural pb on multi-grain bread is fine. Just make sure it's natural pb. Anything else has a lot of added sugar.

Don't worry if its not natural peanut butter, they hardly add any sugar to regular PB. I was looking at my jar of Skippy and one serving which is 2 tablespoons only has 3 grams of sugar 16 grams of fat and 7 grams of protein. I would be more worried about the fat then the sugar. Even though its healthy its REALLY easy to eat alot of extra calories because of all the fat.

Thats why I limit myself to 1-2 tablespoons a day.

Yeah, but regular pb is also full of hydrogenated oils which are basically the worst thing you could eat other than poo.

lol.. shit that made me laugh :) I needed that.

I'm going to agree with Haz.. some Light Peanut Putter has less Fat and Less Carbs.. where as compared to Natural peanut butter from the same brand (Kraft) it has a higher content.

I'm following Crum Cakes modified diet.. It worked well.. I lost weight, I dropped to 10%bf.. it was nice to see. It was a trial diet to see how i would react. I'll go for the "Ultimate" one next time around.

They don't add much hydrogenated oil at all, just enough to keep the peanut butter from seperating. If you look at the ingredients its below suger so they add less oil then suger, so its probably only a couple of grams per serving. I wouldn't worry about it.

well you can obviously taste the difference between natural and skippy and that taste doesn't just come from the skippy label. i put all natural pb in my shakes YUM.

Ok, if you think so. I just like the taste of natty better now anyway. regular tastes like cardboard. Except of course when I nuke it and eat it with apples. Mmmmmmmm!!!!! Or dip chocolate chip cookies in it. MMmmmmmmm!!!! OR just eat it MMMMM!!

Or get peanut butter cheesecake from The Cheesecake Factory.Mmmmmmm!!!!!

Nat PB is full of poly & mono fat which is a very very good thing.

I suggest take a spoon full of net PB two-three times a day. Skip the bread if trying to really get cut (3-4% b/f). The fat intake from the PB will tell your body it is okay to burn the fat off your body. Just don't down too much PB if you are trying to cut up. There are a lot of calories in a little spoon of PB.

Don't go with the low fat version

They reduce the good fats but the saturated are still there. Whether it's natural or not, eat it. Very little sugars. Glass of milk has four times the sugar as a Tbls of Brand name PB. It will raise your test production as well thanks to the good fats.

While contest dieting, I always have a cheat meal once a week. Yes it would make me hold a little water for a day or so, but it helped to keep me sane! I also ate one tablespoon of peanut butter before bed each night. I found that it really helped to burn more fat and to keep the cravings down. A nice lean steak could help the cravings...BTW I won my class in the 176 1/2 and under and placed 3rd in the open lightweight. I came in shredded at 152

i love peanut butter, its my big weakness. when dieting, i have a little bit each day, but sometimes i get crazy and have like 3 tablespoons. peanuts too, i eat too much of them, but a little bit will help your diet.

I take 2 tbls of flax seed oil everyday but when I have a tbls of PB I only have 1 tbls of flax oil instead of 2tbls...By the way: the natural PB that I use has 15grams of fat...Do u guys know any brand of natural PB with less than 15grams of fat?

for those that think regular brands of peanut butter are not bad for you are seriously mistaken. hydrogentated oils are not and can not be processed by the body and should be avoided at all costs. hydrogentated oils contain trans fatty acids which are comprised of synthetic molecules.

once hydrogenated oils enter the body, they are there forever !

shinobi- Why would you want less fat, it is all good for you.

FitnessFrk - So, right, um, then what happens, it just kinda sits there actin all fatty and stuff, like yo yo look at me all fattied out here acting like a big ol fatty just cloggin up all yo shit with my fatty self.

So seriously, what could be done about it?

PB

I'm cutting right now, and I have a little PB treat in the evening to keep sugar cravings down. I LOOOOOOOOOVE natural PB. I happen to think it's not a bad thing at all during dieting.. unless you eat the whole jar. That's bad.

my last meal (#6) as of now for precontest:

-1 large pouch of tuna (those new sunkist no-drain packs)
-1 tbsp Krema natty PB

My favorite meal of the entire day ONLY because it's the only time I have PB!

Whether you are cutting, bulking or trying to maintain you need to keep the good fats no less than 20%. With out sufficient intake of EFA's test production will decrease. While cutting it is essential to keep test levels high to fight catabolism from a calorie restricted diet.

The source of good fats is irrelevant it could be peanut butter, olive oil etc.

peanut butter taste good especially w\milk...

when would the best time to eat it be??

i havent had ne in a few weeks..because i started cutting i thought it would b bad///

They don't stay in your body forever but you bring up a very good point. If anyone has a problem with triglicerides or cholesterol, you definitely need to look at natural. The problem is there are more bad fats in hydrogenated oil than reported on the label. So keep that in mind when looking at fat content of your diet if you are using brand name. You can also make it at home, it's not difficult.

hydrogenated oils = trans fatty acids.

trans fatty acids not only raise LDL cholesterol levels and lower good HDL cholesterol levels but the chemical structure does not allow them to be utililized by the human body.
