Is carb cycling as good as people say?

There is a lot of hype about carb cycling lately around forums. Have you tried it, and does it work? Do I need to just do the diet for a time, or it is supposed to be followed all the time?

yes I use it myself.. on my leg days or days I am doing a lot of extra cardio I will up my carbs so i have more energy .. on days I am more lazy I will lower my carbs back down.

you need carbs for energy! but too much is bad for the waist line. so carb cycling is an effective way to do day to day fitness without roller coastering energy levels

many athletes carb cycle without even realizing it. when i used to endurance run we would eat pancakes and pizza after our races. some days we would get in 4000+ calories no joke.. yet magically we would stay skinny and lean.. why is that? . cause we just ran 13 miles and burned off 2000 calories.. so yes carb/calorie cycling works

Carb cycling makes a lot of sense when you think about it. You get the best of everything. The high carb days are very anabolic where as the low carb days are fat loss focused.

I can tell you anecdotally from training hundreds of people that carb cycling truly does work. Here is an article I wrote that explains how to set up a carb cycling diet for fat loss with a full sample meal plan: http://www.evolutionary.org/cycling-carbohydrates

I really like carb cycling personally. I would say try it yourself and give a review on how it works for you. I know Muskate has some detailed logs with his diets that are set up this way.

I have tried different diets, and I can definitely tell you that carb cycling is probably the only diet that is possible to do on a regular basis. Most other diets can be followed only for a limited amount of time, but this one is both healthy, and easy to follow on a continuous basis, and it really works. Therefore, carb cycling definitely works, and it works very well.
