hi, i'm 22, at 5'5" and weigh about 122 lbs. (i dont know bf%, where do i go to get this measured?)
i work out pretty regularly, day 1: cardio 20 mins, followed by light weight training with free weights 20 mins, day 2: rest, day 3: cardio 30 mins, repeat 3-day cycle.
my current meal plan is really random, i work 8 to 10 hour shifts retail, where i hardly get time to eat and if i do eat, its while im working so its kind of hard to eat really healthy foods. i end up eating lots of frozen entrees or buying. but this is my current basic day to day meal plan:
bfast: protein shake
snack: apple (or apple sauce) and string cheese
lunch: canned soup with rice or frozen entree, yogurt
snack: nutrition protein bar
dinner: chicken breast with a side salad, or other veggie

my goals are mainly to gain some muscle and definition. i have some excess abdominal fat, im pretty much ok with the rest of my body (altho some loss of arm and thigh fat would be nice). it's strange. i accumulate fat on my tummy. with new diet aides (eg: relacore) claim to blame this on stress which release cortisol... i don't remember exactly what the claims were. is this true? i always just assumed it was genetics.

any advice would be wonderful. thank you!

Cute ;) I *heart* sushi :)

There's some great stickies at the top of the board to help you get started on your own research and answering some of your own questions.. As I'm sure you know, your diet is not helping you to maintain your muscle. You aren't eating much protein, and you aren't eating much real food. As far as the tummy fat, on most women, this is the place where they tend to hold the greatest concentration of fat cells and thus is the last place to start showing some real progress in bodyfat loss. You can't "spot reduce" really so you need to work on overall bodyfat loss (or muscle growth) to whittle down your overall bodyfat and eventually show progress in all the different areas where you hold bodyfat in different proportions.

Here's a great place to start: http://www.expertpcsupport.com/forum/showthread.php?t=388278
