How effective are those internet cache cleaners if cops use your computer as evidence? Is deleteing your entire C drive even effective for removeing incriminateing evidence?

sometimes even formating wont stop it but some progs will write over the file repeatedly so it wont be retrevable most of the sweepers will just delete them i recomend erasing the evedince and defraging
a lot of writing and moving happens when you do it and your stuff stands a good chance of being written over making it safe

very simple..
if it's a matter of needing to delete your ENTIRE HD, go to your command prompt, they type "format c:" c being the letter of your HD... if you dont have access to command prompt, then simply create a boot disk, boot with that floppy in the drive then type format c: from the command prompt in dos mode. This will delete EVERYTHING on your c: drive. You will have to reinstall windows and all device drivers along with all programs, but this is the only way to delete ALL incriminating evidence. Some inet processes can alter the registry entries and as a result, a smart computer tech can still find history files after you use a history cleaner-outer. Just be on teh safe side and reformat... i.e. "format c:" Also, if you are on a router, make sure it's not "logging" all the network connections that are made or else all your ip's will be stored in teh router. Good thing is, usually there are like 16 diff points that you will go through before you end up at the server whre you are buying ur sh*t. If you need any more help pm me...

formating will not definatly erase data only addresses of that data
search for a file destroyrer "file shredder" works good
like i said use evidence eliminator then defrag best bet
BUT
if your not a distributer they will not commit valuble cop hacker time on your computer so dont worry about it

Best eveidence eliminator.... a sledgehammer
There are cracks on the web for Evidence Eliminator and it's a good product and will serve your purpose. The cops would never find anything. The FBI? - sure they will probably still find the data but your local police department doesn't have the staff to pull off shit like that.
The sledgehammer is a bit extreme, but it's actually true in a way.
Due to magnetic residual there is a chance that despite many overwrites your hard drive can still be swept.
This is an expensive process and I seriously doubt that your local po po or even the feds would bother doing it to your comp, unless you are a major player. If that is the case, hire someone to set up a sterile platform for all your touchy communiqué.

dude... they're not going to analyze the surface structure of your hd for anything. Formatting WILL keep you from getting busted... theyre not going to open up the box.. they'll just turn it on and have a somewhat intelligent person look at your drive. Unless you are wanted for a more serious felony.. just format and dont worry.

Well, I'll offer some advice considering I'm a software engineer. Formatting your hard drive DOES NOT erase any data, it simply erases the file allocation table, which pretty much removes any chance of finding your previously stored files. The files are still there! Formatting the disk is a safe way out to cover your ass because most people, and probably most computer techs, will not know how to find the erased files, but this method should also be used as a last resort considering you're destroying any of your chances of getting your data back! Kinda like a catch-22 
Then again, like gilly6993 said, you can take a nice sledgehammer to your hard drive and smash the living fuck out of it, and I dont give a shit who you are after that, FBI, CIA, some alien race with technology light years ahead of our time, you can kiss the data goodbye! ;D
