Insurance question

So on Halloween I hit my front bumper and the whole bumper cover fell off, I didn't tell my insurance cuz I thought I could fix it, I can't.

Since my deductible is 500 I wanted to take it to the dealer for a repair estimate and see if its around that, I'd so I will pay out of pocket to keep my rate intact. Not sure Id I should tell insurance company first, otherwise the estimate repair date will be before I even reported.

It was suggested I call the insurance and just say I fell on a pothole today but I'm afraid of getting in trouble.

Thoughts?

Did the whole bumper fall off or just the bumper cover? Unless there's a lot of damage I wouldn't go through insurance
 
Leave the insurance out of it if you dont want your rate to be fucked with

If you lie and say you hit a pothole the insurance company's adjuster is going to look at your car for evidence

You dont want that to happen

take it to a repair shop and get an estimate. tell them you're going to pay out of pocket. if it's enough for you to file a claim, take it back and tell them that's what you're going to do. they'll work with you on the dates and what not. you're not going to get in trouble lmao

Depends on the insurance company. When I swerved to avoid an accident and hit a guardrail/jersey wall and no one was involved, I called my insurance, told them the story, no one looked at the car except the body shop. The insurance approved body shop gave an estimate, insurance paid the bill, I paid my $500 - total for side swiping my GS against a guardrail/barrier wall was 8,000. Not a single insurance agent look at it.

Srsly, how? I've been without a car and driving a v6, it's draining my mileage, I was planning on taking it to the dealer tomorrow but would like to know what you mean first.

A.) Don't you ever fuckin take your car to the dealer again unless it's for warranty work.
2.) You can just buy the new clips and reattach your bumper.
C.) You take horrible fucking pictures and I can't even tell wtf I'm looking at to help you further
7.) Just remove the entire bumper cover and you can drive around w/o it for now until you figure out wtf to do.
E.) Your husband has to be the biggest most worthless man in the world
19.) In the event that you actually broke the bumper, I can give you a number of a place to get a new cover much cheaper than the dealer and you'll just have to have it painted.

1. I didn't take it to the dealer, I called in for info.
Q) that's the problem the clips don't reattach, they are part of the bumper cover.
B. Sowy :( see image below
*. If you drive a Veloster without the front bumper the front tires will shred fender lining
2. Hubby already tried getting those damn tabs back on, he tried gorilla glue, metal epoxy and a bondo bumper repair kit, those fuckers will not re-attach.
C. I think I might need that number it's not looking good, the bumper alone is like $300

The red shit I drew in is where the tabs go, mine however snapped off from that.

A good friend of mine just took his Audi into the dealer bc it wouldn't start one day out of the blue. The dealer said it would cost 10-15K bc they had to completely remove the engine to see what the problem was. He had it towed around the corner to a local shop and found a small air bubble in the gas line which they purged for free.
 
yeah I don't trust the dealer because im sure they'll just make me get a new bumper cover and that's that, this is so fucking simple it pisses me off to have to buy a whole bumper for it! I was bitching about it with hubby and told him it seems like poor craftsmanship and he said I just suck at driving and shouldn't blame the car :( PWNED

remove the fender lining, no big deal. It's only their to keep the engine bay clean.

also it's illegal/ticketed to drive with no front bumper in FL, thankfully I have a van my father in law has here so I'm not out of a car, but it guzzles gas... There must be a way to stick that shit back In there with fiber glass or some shit, I wanna take it to a local joint but they open 8-5 and I work 9-5 if not more FML
 
I took the bumper cover off the bmw for two weeks when it was cracked to shit

total for a new M5 cover and paint, 500 bucks.

don't take it to a fucking dealership for body work ..holy crap
only take your car to a dealership when its absolutely fucking necessary like special software upgrades or warranty work..or in the case of fricken audis and bimmer and benz, having some electronic component programmed to your stupid car.

the cover is cosmetic, the actual bumper is under the cover.

It isn't illegal to drive it without it...most i dealt with was a cop asking me if I was ok when i was pulled over for a phone call...he asked if someone hit me...I told him no...the wrecked bumper was home and it happened at home. Wheel chuck, long story :/
 
also judging by the pics bumper wizard could probably straighten it out at your house for like 200 bucks
if the clips actually ripped out of the bumper they can plastic weld the stupid things in there.

not having the cover on isn't illegal nan


not having a bumper is probably illegal in all states...not having a bumper cover isn't
it isn't a safety issue of any kind to not have it on

The cheapest OEM bumper I've found is $280 so far and it will need painting seems because VT are so new there are no aftermarket parts yet anyway, if I'm looking at $600+ I rather have the insurance take care of it and get it done right.
 
call your agent and tell him/her what's going on and they will help you keep your rate down if they're worth a shit. you pay insurance to handle this shit


I had two claims within 4 months a while back and my rate didn't budge. first one, a limb fell on my truck, the adjuster estimated damages and cut me a check minus the deductible (of course it cost me like half to actually have it fixed). second was a hit and run to my wife's truck while we were in the movie theatre so I had to pay like a $200 hit and run deductible and they covered the rest.
 
I don't have an agent, I did the whole thing online, I'm waiting for a few autobody shops to give me a quote before I make the claim.
 
OMG do NOT call them..

it will still get done right and your rates won't go up if you have it done yourself.

progressive will either drop you or jack the shit out of your rates

rate didn't increase. of course it wasn't my fault either but they're not going to raise her rates just for calling to get some info to see whether it would be worth filing a claim or paying out of pocket
 
I have progressive and I love them. Never had any issues with claims even when they were (his at the time) fault. I've made multiple claims rate never increased too much. Maybe a little after one major claim. Great customer service though.

allstate paid me 3 grand and progressive tripled !!!! my rates at renewal

wasn't my fault in anyway shape or form.
Theyre cousin company wouldn't pay any of Gregs medical when he got waffled on his motorcycle
 
they've been great for me. I'm a platinum customer and I even had my license suspended when I was 17.

one of you must have a rough record?

It's for people that don't need an agent.

When I had state farm I hated that I had an agent. I don't think most people need an agent for auto or home insurance. Pointless middleman. Life and health, yes. Maybe. I'm iffy on that too.

Actually I'm a gold member, none of us has ever had an accident or ticket ever, I have never had even a claim. I don't know if they will jack my rate, I'm just paranoid.

you faggots do know that insurance rates will vary from state to state, right?


and progressive is for the poors, that's why they have different levels, but the majority of their clientele is like nan (no offense).
 
I don't know what you mean by levels. I don't see progressive preferred or anything I just see progressive. I am a Diamond member that's the only level I see.

I agree. I mean, I was afraid at first it was going to be shitty insurance but I've never once had a problem with them and I'm gonna be loyal to them. I don't know why I would pay more for the same thing.
 
yea, my agent who I had state farm with convinced me to go with progressive and I have no reason to complain
 
Cheaper insurance doesn't necessarily mean shittier service. They usually try to cut corners at the body shop, such as using cheaper aftermarket parts instead of genuine OEM parts.
 
J had progressive and I had State Farm. I never switched bc I thought Progressive was high risk insurance and I never told my agent I was married. Lol. They found out anyway and dropped me when they looked up his driving record.

So I went to Progressive. I was so mad. I was like, great now I have to have crap insurance. However, I have been very happy with them though and have not switched back even though I can now. I'm about to make Emerald status (just logged in to check out my policy lol)

no chris, just progressive is fricken terrible here, so is allstate

everyone I know that has state farm has always been pleased

I have amica, also no agent and no problems
