instant vs other oatmeal

Alright, got the piont that it is not good to eat instant oatmeal, but I dont udnerstand why?

what is the major differences?
is instant bad, or is it just not preffered?

reasons I ask, cuz I dont have access to real oatmeal right now, so I eat dry instant oatmeal by the packs. I eat about 3-4 a day, and want to make sure that they are not doing more bad than good...

thanks in advance

instant oatmeal = higher GI (and sometimes they add some crappy ingredients like sugar or salt)

thank you, but my main question is it bad for you? I dont have any other choice when it comes to oatmeal, and all I eat is the plain flavor, pretty bland, I really doubt if it has any sugar...lol...I will stop eating it if its not worth it at all! thanks again bro

Bad ? no

But not as good as old fashioned oats/steel cut

Anyway it is much better than 99% of other cereals

fast oats will be digested before you can say 'steel cut oats'.

steel cut oats prevent this, fast oats are high gi, and that's bad for you in terms of what you want, stable blood sugar.

thank you that was what I am looking for. I know steel cut oats are much better, and when I return, I plan on buying them, but for now, I gotta deal with what I got

so what your saying is that fast oats are almost worthless, and do nothing for stable blood sugar levels??

If they are worthless, what is a good replacement?

They're not that worthless...they're slightly more processed than regular oats. You're worrying about small things too much. If you can get regular or steel cut oats, get them. Brown rice and wholewheat pasta are good choices as well. If you can't get any of those, stick with the instant oatmeal. It's not like you're eating fuckin' chocolate.

worrying about little things, true, but that is cause I dont have many choices, and dont want to waste my time with stuff that isnt worth it. I know its not chocolate, I'm not that ignorant, but I have learned alot on this web site, and its because I ask questions, so it seems simple and stupid to you, but to me, I dont really understand the difference between different oats, and instant oatmeal. so I'm sorry that my persistance to understand is annoying you...

Chill out man. Was my post that forward? Relax. The stuff is worth it, and seeing as you don't have a lot of options, it's most likely your best bet. Can you get the other stuff I listed? Maybe baked potatoes? If not, then stick with the oats. Whichever you choose, you're going to get results. It's not going to make such a difference that you'd have come out as two different people.
