importance of mirrors in the gym?

I hate mirrors. I fucking hate watching myself lift and acting like a girl watching my physique in between sets even though I am about 7% bodyfat right now and 200-205lbs. Maybe that is due to my psychosis, though. LOL. Seriously, though, they distract me mentally and physically and I feel that proper form is best achieved without mirrors. Sorry if everyone else in the world disagrees.

mirrors are very important, not because we want to admire ourselves... but to watch correct position for certain exercises and assess how you are working your muscles.

I think mirrors are bullshit too. If they are so helpful to form when why does so many people's form suck. They are 90% about vanity. I hate squatting in front of a mirror, I think it's actually bad for my form.

I think mirrors are helpful when it comes to form, and who doesn't like to see their arms when they've got a killer pump. But if you're a powerlifter they aren't always a good thing, as if you use them to watch your form, you could be in trouble competition day when there are no mirrors

Mirrors are good for bodbuilders but unneeded for powerlifters. For bodybuilders they are essential for posing while pumped up but for powerlifters mirrors should not be used until shaving your head!!

i like to look at my shredded wheats. Fruits of my labour. IMO mirrors are neccesity, not just for practical reasons but mental----motivating.

Yes I agree, as long as you aren't being an idiot about it. Casually looking in the mirror to see your arms in a pump can be motivating, but studies show that getting right up to the mirror, flashing a double bicep pose with your 13" gardner snakes, and growling can induce laughter in those around you and cause them to miss a lift and drop very heavy objects on themselves and others.

It's nice to have some mirrors around to give you a boost of confidence, check your progress, and make sure your form and technique is all correct.
