I'm new and need some help from everyone

The bottom line is, if you aren't motivated, you won't do it and you're the only one who can make it happen.

You need to be eating 5 or 6 times a day. If you look at the journals, they'll give you an idea of different diets. There are sticky's on diet also that will help you decide on the foods to incorporate in your diet.

If you want to drop weight and lean up a bit, you should be strength training and doing some cardio. Strength training 3-4 times a week and cardio 3-4 times a week.

Many of us have children, husbands, boyfriends who eat differently than we do....again, it all comes down to you....how bad do you want it?

^^^ I second what tha ladies said :)

A great way to get motivated is to write down your goals. Long term and short term then reward yourself once you accomplish each goal. Setting the goals will force you to make a plan and planning is essential to your success.

I was hoping to get some ideas as to what I should be eating and what I should not eat.

Please check the stickies at the top (as previously recommended). They will give you sample diets. There is a reason they were "stuck" at the top and recommended for you to read.

Also its hard to be on a specific diet when everyone else in my house eats whatever, does anyone else have this problem?

Of course. But it all comes down to YOU making the decision to NOT eat those chips, that ice cream, the crap. Only YOU can push through that desire. Does it get easier, well, sometimes. But it will always be a struggle to forego things that taste good, and people that tempt you. But what is worth more? Meeting goals? Or that slice of cheesecake?

There is a place for "cheat meals" in EVERY diet. There is no reason why you have to forego the desired foods for the rest of your life. But, there is palce for those foods - and the place is NOT everyday and in mass quantities. Plan a day where you can eat what you want. The other 6 days you need to eat clean foods. Eventually, the entire cheat day will lose it's draw - and then cut back to a cheat meal (or 2). You will find that once you start seeing results the crap foods don't make you feel so great. You might even find they make you sick. But you will *always* have cravings - but you find a way to satisfy those cravings and STILL meet your goals.

Meeting goals requires determination, sacrifice and drive. You have to have all those things. Otherwise, you are spinning your wheels uselessly.

Make a plan. NOW. Use the resources here (that have already been pointed out to you) to plan a diet, a training program - and post it up. We can critique it and help you modify it.

Then, you have to actually FOLLOW THROUGH. Nobody can do this but YOU.

Read my log. See how I fall off, get back on, fall off, get back on, etc. Some girls find it easy, I don't. And changing what I eat, how often, resisting temptation and getting my @#$ in the gym has been more difficult than I expected.

But you know what? Without having this board to come to, to read the inspiring stories of the other girls, to share my log (even though at times I'm a bit embarrassed!) and to learn more than I ever thought I would about diet and fitness, I would probably have given up for good weeks ago.

But I'm still here, I'll keep working at it and I WILL achieve my goals.

Good luck with yours :)

Now that you've started a log, you can ask all your questions there regarding diet and you will get answers over there. It's hard to keep things straight when we're jumping back and forth. Sooooo, I'll answer you over there.......
