In the U.S. corporate world:

alum/daddy connections > hard work

That was true when there was plenty to go around. But our quality of life is going to diminish (in relative terms, not absolute terms) over the next 20 years. Now daddy's gotta decide if he wants a real executive to run the business or if his kid is reliable enough to make sure he doesn't retire in a Medicare nursing home.

If I was 23 I'd be doing the same thing I was doing at 23! But I would focus more time on my craft in any case. I'd also save far more money and claim more on my taxes.

I don't use the appellation. Really in healthcare the only people who use titles closely are M.D.'s and D.O.'s.

To me it's no big deal. I'm first-name all the way.
