i read an interesting theory the other day about gayness being a trait that was actually useful to a social group. the gist of it was that the gay people in a social group could still contribute communally without the aggression/angst that normally goes hand in hand with competition for mates/resources.

same thing is happening today macrosocially, where these people are dying childless and leaving a fortune to the state. hm. i need to befriend some dying gays, so i can retire (im str8 )

It's a genetic anomaly. There have been studies upon studies which point to this. If you ask a straight up homosexual if they were born that way, chances are they will say yes.

Interesting logic I'll indulge your idea for a moment here though. Let's roll with the genetic thing. If it is genetic then they have no choice in who they find attractive. They could choose to ignore those feelings but it would probably be just as easy as you ignoring your desires for women and sleeping with a man all the time.

I have the desire to run through every woman I see
yet I use choice to over ride thet petty and deconstructive instinct.

IF you have the instinct to be gay, then it s a flaw plain in simple.
There are proven mechanisms that show that a switch goes off especially in over popluated areas ( in animal models) at the genetic level.

sorry if my words are harsh but sometimes the truth is not very easy to hear.
