I was wondering about this...

what if a 250lb powerlifter (not BB) got into a fight with a much smaller (say, 160 lb) martial artist? i was thinking about this just now. so , what do you guys think?

It would really depend on the skill of the martial artist. Fighting really comes down to speed. Most powerlifting are going to be somewhat slow (sorry guys, its a bad stereotype) so the smaller martial artist is probably going to be a bit faster and probably get in more hits. I'd have to put my money the martial artist, but again, many variables go into this other than just weight and training background.

hmmm.... i guess you're right. alright then....let me put it somewhat more concrete....what would happen if arnold schwarzenegger (in his prime, mind you) got into a fight with...lets say....peter aerts (or if y'all dont know him...maurice smith (also in his prime). can you work with that? im just really curious about this.

Well, until that fight happens, it is purely speculation on all our parts. It would be like asking, who would win if superman got into a fight w/ mighty mouse.

edgecrusher,
LOL, yea, we'll never really know.

However, I still the Peter Aerts or Maurice Smith would win vs Arnold. I don't know who either are (I'm assuming some popular martial artists) and I am a fan of Arnold. However, considering Arnold has no fighting background, I can't see him standing a chance. What good is power if you don't know how to use it in a fight?

yep, you both made some good points there. so i guess i'll never know huh? personally, I think the martial artist would win too, just wanted to see what you all thought. btw peter aerts and maurice smith both fight in the K-1 tournament (ring a bell or...?) well, it will always be just speculation, I guess!:karate:

ummm... i did karate for 6 years
i have lifted for 3
i would now (having lifted) BE ABLE TO KICK MY OWN KARATE ASS
hope this helps
Peace
:D
