I was arrested last night...

That search they conducted was illegal.

Roadside "safetey checks" are complete and total bullshit.

You can refuse to perform the field sobriety test which you should because they are impossible and the police can give you a DUI based off that.

You handled yourself very well, even after the axe issue.

Can police search your car in such instances?
And can they search it while you are not there?
I mean seriously, if they didn't like how easy would it be to say something was there that really was not?

Either way, good thing you're home safe and sound.

Get some sleep.

:D

Thanks. :)

As far as I know, if you're under arrest (which I was at the time) they can search your vehicle...and my guess is they thought they had probable cause after checking my eyes.

I suppose they could have planted something, but I wasn't all that concerned...I have a clean record, and could pass any test they give me.

And really, I wasn't pissed about it at the time...nervous, yeah, but now, I'm just kinda humored by it. I've been through the same checkpoint before, and the cop checked my license, said he didn't smell anything on me, and passed me through. This guy admitted he hadn't done checkpoints in a while, and I think that's why I got flagged.

I talked to one of my buddies that's a KC cop, and he thought the handle thing was BS, but either way, I'm not all that concerned.

I'm just glad I didn't smart off, especially to the guy that was staring at me...but I know how to conduct myself in a situation like that.

If you get stopped for a ride program and have only had one drink with a meal never say you have had anything! It was 6 hours ago it sure as hell ain't going to show up in your system so why even mention it.

Sadly this is true. I know some real dumbasses from my high school years that now wear a badge and carry a gun. Our system has gone to shit.

what a buch of dickheads, im angry just hearing about it

i was out and about last night, adn i had had a few beers. anyway, i have a breathalyzer in my car (responsible, huh ;) ) and i blew in it, and anyway, i get a reading between .03 and 0.04 (limit is .05) but i felt like i was under the influence...because my toes were tingling lol

anyway i get out of the car and go for a walk to get a bottle of water, and i pass a police car, and say to the officer, look mate, i just blew .04 on my breatho, and id like to have a go on yours, if thats ok with you. anyway, he says to me "no mate, you cant"

im like, wtf? what kind of cops are you anyway? you have a guy in front of you who is 100x as responsible as the average guy, and he wants to use your breathalyser, and youre saying no? are you feeling ok?

anyway, the dipshit says that i cant because apparently, it oculd come back and bite them in the ass. wtf? so its ok for them to pull me over and take my license off me for 6 months, but not test me before i get in the damn thing? fucken hell, what a bunch of wankers!

so anyway, i kinda told him so. :verygood:

so yeah. sorry to hear about your experience, i would have gone off at the cop, personally. fancy giving me a "filed test" for sobriety when im a pharmacist, and therefore the resident drug expert. what a bunch of powertripping wankers.

go get some phenopthalein and put it in the police station coffee water. pricks.

Everyone should learn from this - never tell a cop you had anything to drink. I don't care whether he smells it on your breath or not. He will not give you a break if you're honest with him.
