karma to those who help out
i need a training split for a beginer and for an older man(about 50). can someone give an example, maybe a 4 day split, thanks alot .

what are their goals?

i think 5x5 would work well for both strength and size

i still think 5x5 would work for both. the older guy might want to do more cardio, such as swimming or racquetball; something he enjoys

I do this, you might like it

Monday - chest
Tues - legs
Wed - off
thurs - back
fri - shoulders

weekend off

B-fold had a post about this a couple of weeks ago. I can't remember the name of the thread but you might try searching back for it. It was about training a middle aged person who hasn't trained before.

Cheers,
Scotsman

ok lets say you're a trainer and an older man comes to you and says he wants to start training just to get in shape, what are the "easy" routines that you would recomend?
i don't think that squats would be one of them or deadlifts.
just a basic workout, what would you give him for chest, back ,legs....thanks alot, karma to those who help!

HST is great for older people:
1) No failure training
2) Low volume (as low as 1 set/exercise)
3) Includes high-rep work to prevent joint injuries
4) Whatever exercises they feel comfortable doing
