i feel a cold coming on!

Anyone know of ways to prevent it from hitting me hard? I got the post nasal drip, the fatigue, and the clogged ears. What can I do to make it go away and keep from getting sicker?

Glutamine powder--20-40 grams in water.

If symptoms remain, find the herb usnea whole lichen and follow bottle directions.

Both methods will eat through a cold.

L-Glutamine in a juice at 10g 2X a day every day and I havent been sick for more than 3/4 a day in 3 years now....

Actually switched to glutamine peptides about 8mo ago, but same results none the less.

THX, I'm the same way. After my spleen was removed nearly right away I noticed that I was getting sick more often than normal. I came down with pneumonia January 2 years ago and so I started back on the glutamine. Same way that you're describing...I haven't had a cold since (except when I can feel one coming on, and then I take a heavy dose and it's gone in hours).

That was always my question about whether the peptides would be just as beneficial. Now I have that answer!

Thanks

keep in mind, though, the peptides taste like CRAP! Sorta like raw chocolate w/o any sugar and they have a hard time mixing in juice, etc..L-Glutamine doesn't really have a taste and if you get something like AST's micronized form the stuff practically mixes itself...

Sirwanksalot posted a few links to some outstanding prices on the topic heading (in this forum) "supplements on ebay". At one of the links you can get a kilo of either regular glutamine or peptides for 39.95.

He definitely should get karma for the outstanding recommendation.

to prevent/cure colds:

Echinacea,
Zinc lozenges,
Vitamin C
Grape seed extract,
Green tea extract,
Selenium

Glad to hear it! It gets to be a chore sometimes to keep taking it; especially when other supplements cost so much. But it's worth it in the end to get on a maintenence dose.

Antioxidants are good...
Here are some immune stimulating herbs I found at BAC
Schizandra
Reishi
Paud D' Arco
Astragalus
Andrographis Paniculata
Mushroom Immune
Neetle Root
Echinacea

I like Echinacea but I'm trying the Astagalus right now to see if it helps. L-Glutamine never helped me much.

Absolutely, without a doubt, the best stuff is the following:

Proboost (Thymic Protein A)
BETA -1, 3-D GLUCAN (500mg caps)
Active Hexose Correlate Compound (AHCC)

The first two can be found at www.beyond-a-century.com and the AHCC can be found at www.pureprescriptions.com. They're a bit on the expensive side, however, you don't have to take them all of the time. Just keep them on hand and when you feel something coming on just slam it with these three. I gaurantee you won't get sick. I searched long and hard on this topic and tried everything under the sun and found nothing compares to these. There is one other called Arabinoglactan that is good but for maintenance, like every day, but it doesn't even come close to these other three. If anyone tries these I'd like to get some feedback if you would as I don't know anyone personally who takes them besides me. Best of luck with it.

Hey wsup 40? Long time bro. Anyways, just wondering if you had used any of the herbs I had written up there and had any success?

Also at what doses do you use the Glucogon and the Probust? Do you use at same time or no?
thanks

Hey bro, great to see you again. Yes, the only one I haven't tried is the Andrographis Paniculata. But the rest I feel all work but only in a mild way. In my opinion, these herbs are like a soft punch but the ones I recommend are like a sledge hammer. These herbs are great for taking everyday to improve immune function and to help avoid the onset of a cold. The ones I mention actually work once a cold has started. I think you'll agree not many things work once a cold has set in. IMHO these do. When I feel something coming on I do Thymic Protein A 3 packets per day, the AHCC 2 caps 3 times per day and the Beta Glucan 1000mg 3x per day all at the same time. Since I started with them I've felt something coming on 3 times and all 3 times it was gone within 24 hours. I cut that dose in half and continue for a few days after I'm feeling better just to be sure. I have 4 small children, when you have small children, anyone will tell you that you're exposed to a lot more germs than normal. I was tired of catching colds seemingly every few months. Well, that's what I do and it works for me, I hope this can help someone else. Take care bud.

Thanks for the info bro. Right now i'm recovering from the flu, usually i take echinacea and it clears right up, or i only stay sick for a day or 2 at most versus being sick for a week or so. So that has helped quite a bit. Right now I tried the Astragalus, which i believe helped a bit since I found the Echinacea working less and less the more times i used it w/ colds.

I will order the 2 from BAC and see how it goes. Thanks again
RB

Sorry to hear that bro, I'm sure you'll be bendin' the bar again soon enough. :)

Hey bud for what it's worth don't miss out on AHCC, man that stuff is some serious shit. With those three on hand I doubt I'll ever miss a workout again for being sick from a bug.

Hey all the best buddie!

Sincere Regards,
40

Bro I just checked out BAC and PP.com, you're talking about some serious $ being shelled out for the 3. I'm thinking of experimenting w/ just 1 of them, $ doesn't allow for me to slam all 3. Which if you could only use 1, would you believe works best w/ a cold?

thanks again 40

Hey, bro, sorry, I was out of town working for the past 2 weeks and I couldn't get to any of my computer accounts while there.

Well, they're all excellent but if I had to choose one, I'd have to say the AHCC. If you feel one coming on take 2 of those three times per day for a few days and you should have no problems. That's worked for me more than once bro.

I hope that helps you bro, all the best to you!

for good cold remedies, refer to my post in the chat and conversation board: "Cold, Flu, or Allergy? How to treat.."

There are some good posts in here. Are you overtraining at all? Make sure you always wash your hands right after lifting in a gym. All those people touching those weights...who know's what kind of bacteria is on their hand!

This may be more high tech than what your looking for but...go to IAS stands for International anti aging systems.

You can buy injectable thymus extract(thymus regulates imune system)as well as a real good oral.

Also BIOSTIM(I went 1 year with people sick all around me without getting a single sniffle) Biostim is cycled. The science is amazing behind it. Made by aventis in france.

Coloidal silver(silver kills bacteria)

i will never buy that any supplement helps a cold. the only true cure is lots of rest, plenty of liquids, nutritous foods, and time for it to run its course. :o

I use zinc gluconate and vitamin C

Dosing: 20 mg zinc gluconate every 3-4 hours with 250 mg of vitamin C with each dose

Most of these preventative measures should be taken when you have a tickling/metallic/sore throat. If you take it at the first real cold symptom it will already haev been too late.

My colds last a day...it used to last weeks.

I also found a high protein diet helps too.

Best way to cure almost any cold green tea twice a day when you wake up and before you go to bed and make sure its real green tea! Also light jogs help warming the body before the cold does and kills it. Last but not least stick with the green tea and drink a ton of water to flush your system this will work.
