That is a good point. It may seem like I go around expecting things but I am not giving to get, it just gets old after awhile. How hard is it to just say thanks as you walk thru the door is all I am asking. I guess I have my parents to thank for raising me with the basic and apparently disapearing ability to say thank you and you are welcome. Americans in general are becoming more disrpectful, more selfish, and just general dickheads. I am really starting to hate the attitude of this nation. Somebody hug me.

I am shocked when a teenager holds the door for me....I say an effusive thanks. Also the day laborors (sp) at Arco, they always hold the door open for me........ Saying thanks is just good manners.

doesn't thank me when I go out of my way to hold the door open for them. Twice already this morning I stopped and stepped back to be ncie and hold the door open for the 2 old couples (these incidents were about 2 hours apart) and neither one of them even looked at me, much less said thank you. I ain't a frigin doorman dadgumit! After they just walked thru, I stated in a rather loud voice "YOU'RE WELCOME" and they looked up through their medicare haze and quickly said thank you. I am about to make an example of some old yank that isn't courteous. The same goes for some of you women out there. I am trying to be a gentleman and hold the door open for you and I don't get so much as a "F you!". I swear to you this country is so self absorbed, they can't even offer up the basic "niceities" anymore. Pricks.

I don't worry so much about the thank you. Most people you hold open the door for appreciative and thank you for doing so. I love the surprised look and moment of hesitation from some too.

and what about the people you let out in traffic? I do it so many times, especially in my neighborhood because it is always hard to get out without help. You would think it is the same people over and over agian that I am helping and rarely will anyone help me out. I have a bright orange car for pete's sake so they have to remember my gestures. People are always in such a rush that they act like 1 more freaking car in front of them just might make a difference!!
