How to target and isolate your upper chest only with pushups?

Great! I forgot all about the pushups.... They seem to be a nice exercise to finish a chest workout.

putting your feet on a bench, seems to restrict the movement to mostly upper chest action. Also usefull to put your hands on elevated platforms (i used the aerobic steps) so that you can dip your body below that level and have a greater range of motion...

Even better , if you train with a partner let him/her grab your ankles and lift you up, this way you don't have to stabillize the lower body and can focus on the pressing part, also your partner can vary the angle during the set , for instance start with a pretty high angle and lower it every 5 reps.

Today I will include them in the following giant set:

- incline benchpress 6-8 reps
- flat dumbell press triple drop set 8-4-4-4
- pushups to failure with feet elevated
- wide dips with bodyweight to failure

On holidays and no gym around you can do a superset of
- pushups with feet elevated, wide arm stance
- flat pushups, close arm stance

i finish my biceps workout with pushups..
put one hand on top of something.. about 10cms high and do like 25 pushups and swap over..
then do it again
it will kill your biceps.. so good

I see no way, biomechanically, that any kind of a pushing movement would put optimal stress on the biceps.

Back in the days, when i had weak arms, sometimes my biceps gave out while benchpressing cause they had to act as stabillizing antagonist for the triceps.....

Maybe that's why you can get some stimulation out of a pressing movement if you already have exhausted the biceps with specific movements, likewise you could do a set of chins at the end of your triceps workout to let the long head do some assistence, but i doubt that people with arms that are used to years of heavy eccentric scott curl and french presses, will get enough stimulation out of this, worth a try tough....

I get a bit of a biceps pump from having to use them as stabilizers also, but to incorporate a pushing movement solely for this purpose seems like a poor choice when there are so many superior options.
