How to get defined and put on mass?

Definition is a combination of muscle mass and low bodyfat. However, it's primarily dependent on low bodyfat. A "small" guy can have definition but a muscular male with low bodyfat will have better seperation. Guys are always asking me how to get the seperation between their pec and shoulder. My answer, "Get bigger and keep your bodyfat low."
 
Unless you're a pro don't try it. While it may be possible to put lose 18 lbs of fat and gain 2 lbs of muscle; it is highly unlikely you will lose 12 lbs of fat while gaining 8 lbs of muscle with or without illegal drugs. Lose the fat then worry about muscle.

I've long said that for an advanced athlete without steroids , that this was not possible. Infact I remember reading Satchboogie threads where he used primo (and other AAS) on a low calorie diet to try this and it seemed like it wasn't working for him even with AAS

I will agree with DT that you should do one then the other
 
I agree with DT. Bulk first then cut. If you think about it, the best means by which to add muscle mass (natural) is to have a surplus of quality calories in your nutrition. However, cutting is almost the opposite. While, in cutting you have to ensure that your protein intake is still quality and high, you are generally reducing your caloric intake for the purpose of reducing BF%. Again, bulk then cut.
 
It depends what you are doing, I ate a very clean bulking diet and trained muay thai 4 days a week and lifted 3 with cardio on the days i lifted too.


I got bigger and more cut. But thats alot of excercise combined iwth alot of eating.
