Curious as to how big yours is. Ive had one for 17 years and it really hasnt grown any bigger. Its rather small, and the doctors at the time said its best left alone since its not causing any problems. How big is yours?

Bro I had it done in March 2004 and waited 3 months before starting to workout, then for 2 months only very lightly. Still, one year later I got it again, same spot. Damn.
Hope everything works out for You though, just be carefull

yeh bro, i'd ask your doctor not a board of steroid users! i had one when i was very young as a kid and i couldn't do shit for like 3 months...you would probably better off taking the doctors advice even if he is giving you a very long amount of time because he is being cautious, this isn't something you want to fuck around with and have happen again

My brother just had one done and it put him down and out for weeks, almost a full month before he returned to work. I would expect to wait atleast 3 weeks for any training at all, you dont want to pop it and be right back in the operating room again.

I had a small one over top of my belly button fixed about two years ago. . .I was back on the rowing machine within 5 days and I started light lifting within two weeks and I was back at it hard within a month. . .I always wear my damn belt now too. :)

The umbilical hernia is one of the thickes spots to tear open.....The surgury is easy compared to other locations but due to the thickness of the muscle there the recovery is the longest. I had a rather large one 5 years ago (just shy of an inch) and the doc told me no worry I will be fine in like 5 days.....bullshit....I was unable to even stand up straight for like 2 weeks and returned to training 3 months later. Make sure to take LOTS of the pain killers, not so much for the pain but to constipate you so that you wont be shitting and re tear it. Its a tight spot and can tear back open easily. Be prepared to take some time off dude.

Did they put on one of those patches? Ive read where thats the best way to go, and that if the doctor doesnt use one youre just asking to tear it again later. Ive had one about the size of a pea above my belly button now for over 17 years and it hasnt grown a bit. Doctors said to just leave it alone. Just read where many unnecessary hernia operations are being done. Perhaps the medical practice is like any business, you need to keep revenue up.

I had surgery for a hernia in high school. It put me flat on my ass for two weeks, and I couldn't get around with assistance for a solid month afterwards. Do NOT go back to lifting until you're absolutely back to 100%. Wait at least two months, with VERY LIGHT lifting after the first month. The moment you feel discomfort, stop lifting. You'll just get another hernia in the same place, and have to go through the whole ordeal again.

about the size of a large marble, It does'nt hurt at all, but I have insurance so I figure I might as well get it fixed. Maybe get some good pain meds too.

I hope it goes well. Let me know if they use a patch to seal it up, I would like to know. As I said earlier, ive read where most procedures today they use them and when they do not use them it has a good chance of tearing again. Recovery is supposed to be a lot better with the patch too. I plan on just continuing as I have, living with the small one I have.
