How should I get my sodium? How do you get it?

Synpax

Well-known member
The Synpax Diet (oats, protein powder, flax seed oil, dextrose, water) lacks sodium. Any suggestions on how I can work this in?

Too much time required for that. I probably need 2000 mg a day.

Thinking about salting my oats.

Thinking about salting my oats. I just seriously don't like salt's taste.

Hmm. That is a good idea; I will investigate. If you know a good source for salted items please let me know. Thanks.

I mix the flax into the oats, not the shake. Dextrose goes into PWO shake.

I will look into the NPB, though. That sounds like the most reasonable and inexpensive route.

ummm, most protein powders have roughly 1:1 ration of potassium and sodium - if your diet revolves around shakes that should be sufficient. If anything in a good diet ration of K+ to Na+ should be 2:1/3:1 -> my suggestion is: don't add any more sodium. Besides if I remember correctly you're doing some endurance training (5k in 19 mins was it?) - Potassium Citrate would do you very good, not sodium.

Juve - you are the man.

I didn't realize it but yes, the pro complex does have sodium and potassium. Not sure about 'potassium citrate' though.

That's the nutritional info.

Since I do 7 a day and each has 12% of daily need, I am close to 100. But I think with the sweating I do I need more than that - much more.

I checked out the ANPB and the salted almonds - not NEARLY enough sodium, not even close.

I don't know how you stand that diet! To each his own I suppose. Fruits and veggies have all kinds of nutrients you won't get in a pill, eat up, it's good for you! Do you drink milk? It has sodium. And just for the record, this is the first time in my life I've seen someone have trouble getting MORE sodium!

What nutrients would I be missing? I can try to include them. The pill is pretty comprehensive.

I don't drink milk, just water.

I just completed doing it for most of this week and ran out of protein. Going to switch to another source but in the meantime substituting the protein with tuna (much less than 400g though).
