How neccissary is Antioxidants?

Just wondering how neccissary it is for BB's to take Antioxidants pills? I take multivitamins twice a day and was just wondering if i should start buying some antioxidant pills also?

And how many pills per day do i take just once a day, or twice for a BB?

what anti oxidants are they?

i take one multi vit, and just try and eat a whole bunch of veg :)

At your age, don't waste your money. They're nice to have if you can afford them, but certainly are not a requirement for young lifters.

aren't anti oxidants responsible for eliminating free radicals?

Anti oxidants are a benefit at all ages but are especially effective for combatting many issues that older people deal with.

Yep.

As for the age/cost issue. Vit C and E are both dirt cheap (get a big bottle at a wholesale store, walmart, etc.), I think 1000Mg (maybe 2000) of Vit C, and 400 - 1200 IU of E are a good choice for any age, and not expensive at all.

I take 400 IU Vit E AM, post workout, and PM.
500Mg Vit C AM, post workout, and PM.
Plus whatever is in my multi-vitamin.

Some of the others can be quite expensive on a per day basis, and you probably don't need to worry about them right now.

Wal mart?.......then don't take it at all!
Vitamin E sold at wal mart is mostly synthetic! not much help.

Spoken like a true GNC guy :)

I've never actually bought supps there, just an example of where I thought they would probably be cheap. The uptake isn't as good for synthetic (which is why there is more oil in a synthetic 400 IU than a natural one), the natural is better overall, but for a young guy not taking it for heart disease/LDL/diabetes etc. reasons, it may not make much difference, I really don't have an opinion for him, I favor the natural, but I'm 37 and my lipid profile looked like I was coming off a cycle a year ago, even though I haven't done one yet :) . The natural does cost 50% more, but we're still talking 45-50ish vs 30-35ish dollars for 1000 400 IU caps (about a 1 year supply). If you go the bulk route...

FYI:
Tocopherol-d is the natural version; Tocopherol-dl is the synthetic version (also if it is tocopheryl or all-rac-alpha tocopherol). If it has an Alpha, before the rest, it means the Beta, Gamma and Delta version of the oil is not present, best to get the blend if you're going to get thel-d, but harder to find without Q10 or something else in there that makes it pretty expensive.
