How much weight do you gain in a month on average?

This question is intended for those who don't use gear. How much weight gain per month is considered decent progress? 2lbs? 4lbs?

If you just started trainning.. maybe you can expect 4 lbs a month.. After some years, if you train hard, you will be happy with 1 or 2 lbs a month..

what ever happened to the 'the most you gain is 1 pound a week' ?

It is said in bodybuilding lore that if you eat 500 extra calories a day on top of what you usually eat to maintain bodyweight that you should gain 1 pound per week. Thing is, what is that 1 pound made out of? Muscle or fat. Probably a little of both but it is impossible to gain 1 pound of muscle per week if you don't juice.

That deserves some karma!

just realised 1 pound a week does equal about 4/5 a month
so scrap that last post, i dont know what i was thinking

over the last year averaged i kept 1lb per month. Haven't been eating consistently; gained 4 in some months then lost it all again
