how much time do your muscles need to recover on a cycle?

there is a such thing has overtraining....thank you...

it was a really bold statement i made, but my main point is, if you r eating 5000cal a day, there is no reason why u cant easily do some body parts 3 days a week(on the sauce of course) of course if u were to do chest 5 times a week, u would never be able to eat enough to recover from it, and then u would be overtraining.

so you think twice per week is roughly the cut-off? anyone else?

I would say yes. I did chest three times in one week a few weeks back and post workout (3rd time) I could tell that my chest group was hurting.

I workout six days per week, rotating between four groups, and I find that works for me just fine.

If there is no such thing as over training, take your ass to the gym and do chest 5 days in a row with the same weight.

There is actually these three guys that do that at my gym... they train chest mon to friday... i'm not shitting you guys! ANd one day i wanted to fuck with these guys heads so i went up to them and asked them, what kind of routine are you guys on, it looks pretty good! meanwhile i'm thinking these guys are fucking idiots.. so, the guy goes to me... we have been doing this training program for over 10 years and its awesome... and he goes to me, you should try it, your chest will get bigger than it already is... lol... i was hollering inside... this guys chest was so damn small and this guy is telling me i should try his program?!?!? LOL.. it was so funny

Problem is if you use any type of compound movements. For example you train shoulders and do military presses on day one.
Day two is chest with press type movements. Then on day three you hit tris--- well that would be using your tris for three days in a row. Even though each time might not be to faliure its still using that muscle. You even used front delts for two days in a row.

Good point ryker...
