No. During my first cycle I was taking 500mg in the beginning and 750mg for the last 4 weeks. Gains were not to impressive though.

On a first cycle at 750 gains should of been very good.
Maybe bunk gear.

There's more to eating right than just Protein consumption.
I could eat 400g of protein a day but if I was still only getting in 2500 cals then I wouldn't gain any weight.
Don't do a gram.
Give us your stats.
