How much do you guys actually get? How many lucky bastards work in naps?

Edit: I'm sure this has been done a million times before, but lets do it again!

i can manage with 6, which is what i usually have to do (not enough hrs in the day) but 10 is the good spot, at 10 hrs im completly refreshed

7.5 and I'm okay, when I drop down in the seven range I do a hell of a lot of yawning. My job can be boring.

6 1/2 to 7 is my average, i will occassionally get 9 hours in continously.

tonite i am starting the vampire shift (midnite to 8 am), so gaud knows what my sleeping habits (if any) will be for the next two weeks..... :worried:

Well I'm pretty much already a vampire, work from 10PM-7AM. I usually sleep about 7 hours although some days as few as 4 and some days as many as 13.

I usually average about 7-9 over the course of most weeks though.

is not so much quantity but quality of sleep that matters, for athletes the deep delta wave sleep is critical, this is the one where you dont even dream which is more restorative for muscle repair,
where REM sleep when you dream restores your mind

8+ hours for me! Work on my feet all day and need at least 8 to get some good recovery time in.

tks to the afore-mentioned nite shift i am sleeping anywhere from 4 hours to 8 hours a day last week and this week. :(

I feel like I let my body down if I dont get at least 7. If your busting your ass in the gym and in the kitchen why slack at the only time your muscles repair and grow.

7-9 here. i work nights from 9pm-6am sometimes though. and wish i could wake up earlier in the mourning instead of at 1pm.

I would say 7.5 hours is the bare minium if you want quality gains and goodr eturn from training and general well being. But over 8 is even better with a nap added

6-8 but it depends on the time of year and training as well..

during the winter i can get 8-10

but in the spring/summer, normally 6-8

during this month exam time, i have slept 5-6 hrs only. now I can sleep 8-10 hrs easily. im finished.nothing to do all summer except swim and lift :)

during school, 6 hours feels good. Now i'm sleeping 8 hours with a 2 hour nap. Feels damn good and I notice more gains in strength as well.

i have the time but i literally can't sleep for more than about 6 hours or past 7 am whichever comes first. i'd like to get 8 but i usually go to sleep around 11 and wake up around 5:30 with no alarm. i dont' even have to get up until 6"30. even if i go out drinking and fucking until 5 am, i'll wake up at 7 or so and can't gt back to sleep.
sometimes i'll wake up at 4 am and feel great but don't want to get up. of course on those days i'll be tired as hell by 7 pm!
so i'm voting for 6 since that's what i seem to average.

I'm lucky to get 4, my body likes 6 hours best but I love to sleep so if I could I'd sleep at least 8-10 hours.

I rarely if ever get 8. 6 is fine by me and sometime I only get 4-5 and can't tell the difference.

7-13 depends on the day. now school has started usually 7-8 on school days, if i decide to stay in bed saturday and sunday morning then its around 10-12, if i decide to get up then about 10

Depends on when my son wakes up and when my arthritis wakes me up.

Lately I've been getting 9-10.

I've been really working on getting more. I've got it closer to 7-8 but I'm normally a 5-6 hour person. This has been a major goal for me this year. Tough with 2 little kids!

right now I usally get 6-7½ hours but I guess that above 8 is optimum.

More then 9 and I feel like I have high fever or something like that.

need 8 or 9. Get less than 7.

Yes on i cant sleep past 9 hrs and wake up completely refreshed i aim for 9 everynight but the time it takes to fall asleep plus waking up to pee 2-3 times a night im getting around 7

Need 10 as a 17 year old. Get 6-7 cause I have to wake up at 5:45. Recently I've been getting much more though and feel great for it.

I really need 9-10. Lately been getting 8 + a 2 hour nap when my son takes one as well.

i found that if i sleep till i wake naturally i get about 9 but with kids and that damn alarm clock i get around 8 -any less and i sneak off to the car at work and get an hour or so nap

For me, it's usually about 6-7. If I get less than 6 for a couple days in a row, I'm not at my best, and in fact get negative and unproductive. More than 8 in 1 night, and I wake up with a bad headache like I never slept at all. I always wake up at 5:30, no matter what time I went to bed, and I don't have an alarm clock. I hate that, because I know I can't stay up to go out with my wife, or anything, if I'm going to need to do anything important the next day. I just can't sleep past that time, even if I want to. I don't start workout until 9, and my job is here at home, so there's no need to be up that early. I use it to eat breakfast, horse around here on the internet, or do housework, whatever. So I go to bed at 10:30 or 11 every night, and sleep great.
