How much protein?

Smokescreen

The carton of eggs I'm looking at says that one egg is 8grams of protein.

How much protein will this one egg be if I do NOT eat the egg yolk? Will it be down to 7 or 6grams of protein?

You must be looking at jumbo eggs... Large eggs have 6 grams of protein... The egg white in a large egg has 3.5 grams of protein and 17 calories

Yes sir. Jumbo eggs is what I'm talking about. So if I remove the egg yolk, how much protein will one jumbo egg be? Again...without the egg yolk.

Wtf?! So from 8grams of protein down to 4.5grams of protein by NOT eating the egg yolk? Shit!!! That's a lot of protein lost by not eating the egg yolk.

Is this information correct? Are you guys sure about this?

Genral rule of thumb is that 50% of the protien is in the yolk likewise about 90% of the fat and cloresterol is in there too so use ur marcos. Its good fat and good cloresterol so not bad for u just depends on ur goals

im more than 100% sure on this but your also leaving out the fact that the egg white has NO FAT, NO CHOLESTEROL, NO SATURATED FAT... None of that shit... taking that into consideration, that should explain to you why many just eat the egg white... i don't touch the yolks, ever... If you are trying to bulk, then some yolk is fine but not on a cut...

Shit! So like half of the protein is gone simply by removing the egg yolk huh? Shit.

So from 8grams of protein per Jumbo egg down to now 4.5grams per jumbo egg white.

The calories say that one Jumbo egg white is 90 cals. 50 of them from fat. So if I "remove" the fat (egg yolk), does that mean that now each jumbo egg went from 90 cals down to 40cals?

No... Thats not right... Calories from fat has nothing to do with what the egg white contains... A jumbo egg white has 18 calories and 4.5 grams of protein

Then can you please explain to me (teach me) what it means when I read...

90 calories 50 calories from fat

What does this mean?

I assumed the whole egg is 90 cals. But by removing the fat (egg yolk), that I'll be removing 50 cals.

calories from fat are the amount of calories in any given food that are from fat... anytime you see a food than half calorie from fat, its normally not a good thing... just because you take away the fat calories doesn't mean that the product does not have other parts to it that aren't fat... the entire yolk is not all fat, but most of its calories are from fat...

smokescreen, i buy whites in a carton. im sure its not perfectly au natural but pretty damn close when u compare nutritional data. health food stores will have this and some main steam grocers.

bro i can't explain this any easier... NO it does not... there are 18 calories per egg white in a jumbo egg! the calories from fat has NOTHING TO DO WITH THIS! the yolk has 72 calories in it... 40 of those are from fat...

Damn! So 18 cals/4.5grams of protein per jumbo egg that I eat (minus the egg yolk). This stuff is awesome!!! Plenty of protein in so little calories.

I've never understood why someone would just eat the whites? I eat 5 dozen whole eggs a week. People throwing away a lot of good stuff, imo.

If your bulking imo but your right good fat wont make you fat but if ur body doesnt use it for energy then... Likewise is a good tool while on cyc to lower ldl and raise hdl has pros and cons i dont want the fat so i toss it but everytime i do i think ur tossing some good food and alot of it!

if you are bulking then of course you would want to eat the yolk and there's no problem with that except i would keep an eye on the cholesterol and the high calorie from fat content but if you are on a cut, or trying to maintain then it makes perfect sense to not be eating the yolk... I eat 30 - 34 egg whites a day...

I'm trying to cut. So I need to decrease calories.

So if one jumbo egg is "so-called" 90 calories, how many calories did I eliminate by removing the egg yolk? 72cals?!

If I am correct, each gram of protein is equal to 4 calories. Each gram of carb has the same. Each gram of fat has 9 calories. So, 4.5 grams of protein times 4 calories per gram, equals 18 calories. Basically, this says the egg white only has protein and no fat or carbs
