best protein + carb meal post workout?

I’m looking for the best protein and carb meal to take post-workout. Something that’s easy to prepare and something that’s quick. I don’t want to eat late anymore. Every time I eat too late, I end up waking up in the middle of the night with heartburn. So I want to take something that I can eat as soon as I get home from the gym or maybe on the way home from the gym.
 
A great post-workout meal should provide a good balance of protein and carbs to help with muscle recovery and replenish glycogen stores. For something quick, easy to prepare, and easy on the stomach, try a protein smoothie with the following:

  • Protein: Use a scoop of whey protein (or plant-based protein if preferred).
  • Carbs: Add a banana or some oats for fast-digesting carbs.
  • Healthy fats (optional): A tablespoon of almond butter or flax seeds for extra nutrients and satiety.

You can blend it up quickly and drink it on your way home. If you're looking for something solid, try a chicken wrap with whole-grain tortilla, lean grilled chicken, and some veggies like spinach or avocado. Both options are easy on digestion and should help you avoid heartburn since they’re lighter and easier to process.


Avoid eating right before bed, but this should keep you fueled and satisfied without any discomfort!
 
Something like chicken and brown rice is very boring but it definitely works. Try that and then see what happens.
 
Add some broccoli or asparagus to your meals. It's extra carbs and it's healthy with the protein options that you're eating.
