How much protein do you eat while bulking?

From chatting to people and reading up on it, the recommended level seems to be 1.5g per lb of weight, but eastern european weightlifters are reported to be eating over 400g per day, these are huge guys but it makes you think when u see this years worlds strongest man contest.

I'm 185lb and consume about 250g per day (including a ceasin shake before bed), plenty of carbs up to early evening, fruit veg starch etc, EFA (flax seed oils) and never neglect your vitamins, zinc, b6/12 etc.

I try to get between 350-400/g day when bulking but I also weigh 250lb.

Yeah, I am kind of in the 1.5 gr. per lb. camp. I believe this is truly all we need when bulking. Most are taking in plenty enough carbs at this time and probably a decent amount of fat for kickers for protein sparing. Anything over sure won't hurt, but it is in my opinion simply extra calories, thus more gain in that way.

But then again, if this is the way you need to make your required calories, by all means up the protein. Always better to err on the high side of protein than not enough. Some folks for example are highly carb intolerant, and these may well do better with a higher protein intake.

But, bottom line, this comes into play....Consuming carbohydrate to maintain glucose availability reduces the need to obtain energy by amino acid oxidation. (thus the fact that dietary intake of aminos can do its intended job). Ingestion of simply 100 g of carbohydrate per day reduces nitrogen excretion by about half, a phenomenon well known as the 'protein-sparing effect of dietary carbohydrate'.
