I want to train to get fast. Currently I run 1 hour each morning then 1 hour later on in the day. I do that for one week, then the next I do HIIT running twice a day. Is this too much? Am I doing this totally wrong? If so can anyone give me tips to train to get fast?

Bro if you want to get faster, why are you going for an hour run twicw a day? Make all your training sprint training with the occasional long distance. Do you do sprint drills? Hows your technique? I wouldnt do two high intensity sprint trains in one day. You are doing power training in the gym to, I take it.

thats alot. are you training to increase your times for distance running? or just shorter distances.

buy a stopwatch. best bet is to take whatever distance you want to run and break it up into 50%-90% of that distance and try to run those distances faster and faster. every once in a while run the full distance to see how you do, and from time to time go over that distance to build some endurance.

with running an hour, without regards to distance or time, you are probably not focusing on getting a pace time faster.

I'm a bit of a fighter, so endurance/speed for long periods of time is top priority for me. I figured if I ran for an hour the fastest I could until my legs feel like they've been dipped in acid, it would improve both my endurance and speed.

My goal is just to be able to run the fastest I can for the longest distance I can, I use HIIT to train for sprinting.

Try running with those weighted sleds behind you like football players.

If they can make 300+ pound guys turn on a dime with all that gear and shit, imagine what it can do for you ;-)

Another thing you might try to do is if you do drills (like blocking and punching practice) do them weighted, every time. I use 10 pound dumbells.
