How much flaxseed oil?

Hmmm... Let's see. 2 1/2 grams omega-3 long chain (minimum) for maintenance; each 5 ml (tablespoon) has 2 1/2 grams omega-3 short chain, which converts to long chain between 1% and 5%, so we'll call it 2.5%.

So, each 2 1/2 gram short chain serving equals 62.5 mg of usable omega-3s; 2500 mg/62.5 mg = 40; Um, so yeah, that comes out to 40 teaspoons (200 ml) per day for maintenance. Double that for optimal levels. Hey, at half a bottle of oil a day, you'll never have to worry about it going rancid -- and you'll definitely get your calories...

lol.

Just take 2 tblspns a day. more if you don't mind the calories.

I wasn't shitting on the flax dosages above if you are taking it for omega 3 reasons.

If you are looking for a good omega-3 supplement, go for fish oil -- it's omegas are the long-chain form, which is the type usable by the body. Do not use cod liver oil, as long-term high-dose usage can cause vitamin A toxicity (contrary to the notion that cod liver oil somehow leeches more A than it adds); additionally, in general, try to avoid fish oils that are harvested from the liver as they have the highest contamination rates; try to find oils extracted from the head or skin. And that have been decontaminated.

yeah fish oil is way better. but i always find gelcaps at 1 gram, and then you have to take 20 plus at least of them. and the oil, even when emulsified tastes like shit.

Fish oil caps aren't so bad if you don't like the taste -- they're cheap and usally about 30% omega 3, which works out to about 16 pills/day (couple at each meal).

Here's some fish info:
