Between 1700 and 1900, my friend tells me that I should be dead because of how low that is. I am trying to cut so that I can do my next cycle on a good foundation. Currently 198 lbs 5'10" jsut guessing on BF at 18%.

Just started a bulk cycle, so, 4000-5000 a day, depending on how much peanut butter I tinker with that day.

lol you sound just like me i have been eating the huge jar of peanut butter every 4 days!!

mmmm peanut butter :p I can so eat the whole jar in 1 sitting, I've done it a few times actually

I have a date with a PB jar next week!! :elephant:

Look what I started lol. Mmm just went and bought some more peanut butter, and some tuna! The checkout girl hated me for how many cans of tuna I had. Of course she could have been smart and looked that the box said 48, and that it was missing 1, so that's right boys and girls 47!. Instead of ringing up all 47 seperatley..

3000 just now. Weight stalled (bulking) but I'm having problems getting them up while keeping fat intake in check.

Damn, you just can eat so many carbs/prot in a day

I might jump into the PB bandwagon as well now

Damn your weight stalled? You used to way more! I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing. Either way, I hope you get to your desired weight. Add some more EFA's.

Peanut Butter?

I usually get around 1500 Calories per day of nutrient dense foods

I practice Calorie Restriction With Optimal Nutrition

Hahaha cool! More Peanut B. swallowers like myself..
I don't open a new one every 4th day, maybe 12 or so ;-)

I go on 3500 cal for growing. Complex carbs, lot's of protein and
MCT oil - 'good' fats added here and there ED). I gain little fat with 3500.
I go on 2000 for cutting. Much less complex carbs, lot's of protein and
little MCT.
I started cutting about 6 weeks ago at 201 and now i'm 196 and 5'10"
So now +-2000 ED if you count the MCT oil in.
For cutting this works fine - for me. Weight is going back nice and slowly
and so is my BF%. I don't want to go below 6%, now at 8% I guess.
My face has to look healthy, not skinny like when I did competition :-))
I got about 10 weeks to my next androgens insertion and want to
be at 6% again right when that starts. Then off course I switch back to
a higher calorie plan.

*No way back

When bulking I was trying to hit 4500-5000 cals/day, and on that I still couldn't get past 218 at 5'11" and 14-15% bf...26 y/o. I'll start cutting soon and am unsure how much I should take in. I aim for 1.5gr protein/pound, and 80-120gr fat when bulking, the rest carbs.

2650-2800 right now... two days a week up to 3k...

i was at... GASP... 1850 for a long time...

6,000 ++

4000 from food, and another 2000 from 3 muscle milk shakes per day. I fight the urge to be small on a daily basis, lol.

Wow, I think i'd make myself sick if I tried to consume all that!

Blondbomber... Do you have any recent BP readings or any blood results recently you could share. I'm interested to know how you are doing on that amount of calories.

I'm currently 5'9" ~160 7%BF. Right now I'm eating 3-3.5k per day on average but back 3 weeks ago it wasn't uncommon for me to down 5k and I was still dropping bf. But then again, I was also running 15-20 miles at a time. I'm an endurance athlete...triathlons and running races so I can easily burn 2k+ calories during a single long workout.

That day was a high-carb, high-calorie day, so it is obviously not quite representational of my daily caloric intake.

I had blood work done about 2 months ago, and I have a good BP and cholesterol reading. The only reading that was slightly higher was my creatine (sp?) level. I don't have the readout in front of me, so I have no specific numbers to share.

Eating that much is not a problem for me; I am have a naturally endomorphic, lineman's bodytype. When I was fat I could eat 5-6 "cheat" meals a day.

forget carb cycling bro......you should stick to this for a few weeks.....I bet you make some incredible gains.....seriously......just got the fat to about 100g and it's $$...

Usually around 1800, mainly do to time constraints with university, work, coursework, the gym and martial arts.

I dont have the best diet either, when i'm not in work its good. But i work part time in Burger King so all that shitty food i get on my break isn't good for me i guess. I ate 1 burger that had 980 kcal's the other day (thats disgusting).

I am 5"8, 140lb's, 11.5% BF and i'm 19 years old.

Here's what I ate thus far today.....

8 AM....2 whole wheat bagels w/ steak, egg, and cheese/ 8 egg whites, a litre of skim milk

9:30 AM -trained.....10 singles of power snatches, 10 singles of power cleans, then I no-no squated up to a heavy 5, then 5 singles at a set weight, then 5 sets of chins

10:30 AM- MetRx 51 gram RTD

11 AM- 2 beef and bean burritos from Taco Bell and a muscle milk

1PM 1lb of 95% lean ground beef, 1 bag of instant brown rice, a package of frozen broccoli, and a litre of skim milk

It's 1:50 and I'll probably have a muscle milk in a half hour....the day is young.....I actually forget what it is like to eat when I am hungry, I just stay stuffed to the point of being uncomfortable all day long, lol.

is this everyday??????? Stats?

is this everyday??????? Stats?

Everyday man. Not the same menu, I'd get bored, but that's the basic gist of it.

I am 26......I'm a little under 6' with my shoes on and right now I am anywhere between 250-255 depending on when I weigh myself.....my pic is in my avatar. I don't really measue much, arms are about 19"...thighs about 29-30".....chest maybe low 50's....my waist is 36". Last physical I had, my BP was 115/80 and my total cholesterol was 167, I forget the HDL/LDL breakdown, but it was good, tryglycerides were good, no problems.

I try to stay full all day and never get hungry.....I stay consistent because I am not scientific, If I want to eat at say 10:30, and I can't until 11:15, I am not going to kill somebody over it, I use A LOT of variety, especially with fruits and veggies...I find I can keep bodyfat under control by eating foods that are dense nutritionally.....I try to stay away from high calorie foods with no bang for your buck, like candies and cakes and ice cream, for me, that shit just sticks to my waistline and does nothing to improve my lifting. Believe it or not, taco bell is pretty nutritionally dense depending on what you order, lol.....I drink close to a gallon of skim milk a day, sometimes half a gallon.....I drink a Metrx 51 gram RTD post workout, then a big meal about an hr later....I use muscle milk to up cals if need be...I use shakes if I am lazy or if I need to go to the grocery store, or if I physically can't eat anymore...sometimes the food doesn't sound so good, so I'll drink 2-3 muscle milks a day just to keep my clean cals high.....I prefer fresh, whole foods most of the time...meals are chicken or beef or fish with A LOT of a complex carb and some type of veggie or salad..Also, I'll eat baked and mashed potatos, I don't limit myself to yams, I eat lots of oatmeal, only whole wheat bread that has a high fiber count at home, but at a reataurant, I'll a regular bun with a sandwich, I don't get bent out of shape over that.....I eat a lot of yogurt and bananas.....lots of peanut butter...today I grabbed taco bell, sometimes I'll get a pizza, If I am dying I'll eat a peice of a snickers bar, but again, if I do something like that, I look for bang for my buck, The other day I was in a pinch with work and had to stop at Wendy's.....so I got a a chicken sandwich, a burger, and two baked potatos.....for me, it just comes down to using my head when it's time to eat.

Back in college and the first couple years after I graduated, I'd go out Fri and Sat night and spend $100-150 a weekend at the bars......I gave that up, and saved myself $400-600 a month, now it goes to MetRx, Cytosport, steakhouses, sushi joints, and the grocery bill. I don't waste my money on ANY nutritional supplements like creatine or glutamine .....been there, done that, my own personal study conducted by myself on myself says you don't notice them one lick them if you eat an abundance of nutritious foods and train correctly. I just drink MetRx post workout and Muscle Milk to up cals and because it really does taste like a milkshake.

lemme see this rest of your diet yesterday....you got the right idea bro...protein #1, build mass, sculp it later....what is your training like? Cardio?

Sure....

3PM---Muscle Milk

5:45PM---Roasted lean pork loin (a lot).....mashed potatos...brussels sprouts (a lot)...salad.....1 litre of skim milk

8:30 PM----Roasted turkey breast(a lot), broccoli (a lot), bag of instant brown rice...1 litre of skim milk

10:30 PM----Can of tuna with mustard for taste, lol...some yogurt, and a banana, some more milk..

I also drink water during the day, sitting at the computer, sitting at work, watching TV, etc. I take Vit-C, a B-Complex, and a Multi-Vit.

Asleep by 11:30

I train for strength/performace mainly....If I want to cut, I can reduce my calories by about half and still probably eat a good 3000 cals and the weight falls off my body....sometimes I will do a few 2 week cycles of ultra-restrictive dieting every other month and eat like this the rest of the time, it works well for me.

With cardio, I find long, slow cardio (like the treadmill at 5.0 for 45min) just destroys muscle and ruins workouts and athletically makes you slow. Unless you're an endurance athlete who wants to build stamina, I don't see the logic in painfully long, painfully slow cardio. I'll do sled dragging, swimming(this more for AR), sprint work, high intensity interval stuff for performance.....and when I want to manipulate bodyweight or appearance I do it in the kitchen.

thats a ton of cals....I prob. take in half that many, but I need to revamp.....I've switch to a 1/2 hour stationary bike in the am, 3x a week max........now I just need to cram. I train in the evenings....do u work? My problem is not getting in enough meals before bed...take a look:

3:00
rice and tuna preworkout
4:30
TRAIN
600pm
WHEY AND ??? SUGGEST AND MRP HERE? MAYBE A MYOPLEX? THOUGHTS ON DEXT? FRUIT? BAGEL?

THEN I LIKE TO GET IN A SHAKE, SOME NUTS AND SOME VEGGIES ABOUT 830 - BEFORE I CRASH AT 9PM..........THOUGHTS?

I work a 9-5.

Post workout, have some whey and some carbs (in any form)...maybe a whey shake and some Gatorade at 6PM (I say gatorade because it is quick and easy, if you want a bagel or white rice, or juice, that works) .....about an hr later, eat a balanced meal with protein/carbs/fat.

Eat maybe a tuna sandwich on whole wheat and some salad and milk around 9:30.......then maybe some eggs and a banana and yogurt before bed.

problem = my training is over at 630, pw shake at 7pm.....I'm alseep around 900pm, so I can fit in one more meal......maybe around 830pm.......

biggT -- awesome posts, very detailed info. You're a big mofo! What's your BF? Sorry if you mentioned it and I overlooked it. Just wondering 'cause "traditional wisdom" tells you to not drink too much milk but I just love the stuff.

You eat "roasted" meats a lot . .. how do you prepare 'em? And same for brussel sprouts. How do you make 'em edible? LoL I'm tired of eating green beans but the other veggies are too much hassle IMO to get 'em ready, cook, etc.

I honestly don't know my bf%. I do use skim milk, I never had any real problems with it, if I start thinking I need to cut back, I usually drop a Muscle Milk shake and I am good to go. I personally think milk is the most anabolic food on the planet. With a gallon a day my recovery time is really improved, and it is sort of like an insurance policy against a bad workout.

With Brussels Sprouts, and broccoli too, I use garlic powder and red pepper flakes and a drop of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter....the garlic powder and red pepper flakes make them real edible, otherwise they just taste like grass to me. I also eat a lot of spinach, but I like spinach, so it's not a problem. I put it in omlettes or sometimes sautee it with fresh garlic and olive oil and put it over brown rice.

For poultry I just use salt and pepper and garlic powder.....with beef I use either Montreal Steak Seasoning or salt/pepper/garlic powder. A lot of times I skip the salt and make a broth just with one of those instant boullion packets. I can pick up a lot of roasted meats at a local store thats prepares them fresh daily, otherwise I either broil, bake, or grill at the house. I've been making a pretty good meatloaf with either 95% lean beef or turkey. Just use salt/pepper/garlic powder/onion/parsley/whole wheat bread crumbs/and 1 egg. Mix it up and bake at 375 until done. It also makes a good sandwich the next day on whole wheat bread with mustard too.

My life would be much easier if I'd cook days in advance, but I am not a big leftover guy, so I probably cook at least every other day.

please post your diet.......7000 per day every day is impossible for me to fathom.

I started at 3300, and this coming week I'm bumping to 5,000.......If God didnt make bread, bagels, or peanut butter, no way I could swing it.......

trio-plex protein bar, what ever else i decide to get at school usually bagle cream cheese, apple, cake or cookie try for about 1000 + cals.

IMHO...wayt too many cals #1, arent you getting really FAT? and #2, if the cals are good for you, it's still too many in each sitting....add in 2 more meal meals and break some of those up bro...every 2 hrs....

no not getting fat you can see striations in my body, veins and a little bit of my six pack. I have an unaturally fast metabolism i have to eat 4000 just to maintain.

I'm surprised that only about 16% of you eat more than 4000 calories! How do you maintain your weights?? I only weigh 180 and I eat about 4600 on average.. If I ate 2500-3000 a day I'd weigh 120 again

Usually about 1500, but trying to be good before a vacation in 3 weeks.

bad bad bad... that is the theorical minimum for women. How much do you weight?

I'm currently on 2000-2100, cutting, when bulking, 3 steps: first to 2500, then to 3000 and max 3500... otherwise I explode like a balloon.

right now i'm trying to take in about 3500-3600, and slowly up it to 4200...

if i start to see any signifigant fat gain though, i'll be decreasing that number by 100 per week...

To maintain or lose, I was following the current weight x 11-14 rule. That'll get me in the 1600-2000/day range. No?

Cutting for me starts Monday so I'll go back to 1800-2100 cals.

I plan to not go below that b/c I've added a decent amount of muscle & I must eat to keep it. We'll see what happens...

At my leanest I was easily eating 2500-2800 cals a day, scale weight around 155 lbs, I was pinched at 9.8. Now I don't rely on 7-11 pt pinches, just use them for data points, but the consistency of the pinch & person doing it is a constant.

2 triple turkey burgers (60g protein each)

Wow, im surprised that we have so many peeps under 4000. I average about that all the time no matter what im doing . I have a nagging hunger that i have had since my youth. Sometimes i get up in the 5 grand range . Hmmm, maybe i need to slack back significantly. But it seems that if i even go down a little bit in caloric intake that my muscle mass that i have goes right away . But when i go up significantly then i start to gain to much body fat . But the thing is , is that im not a huge muscled up dude . Im alright but nothing compared to some of the guys on this site that are huge and eating 4000 calories a day just to bulk .

Im jabbering . Im new here. Please just go take a look at this link i just started to see my problem .http://www.elitefitness.com/forum/showthread.php?t=469326 Thanks guys and gals, Rashidi

Buns, I forget how tall you are... 5'8??

<<still getting shit at work for having a 'lunch bag' the size of a full grocery bag, but I eat at least three meals/day at work! Planning to throw a dumbbell at the next co-worker who questions if I'm consuming too many calories>>

bulking, about 5k.. recovery went up and strength gains were unreal but sadly you can only keep up that for long, and mixing carbs and fats = buddah

cutting, 2.6k and a lot of patience

Hey, I round up too... When it comes to height anyway. :)

Leanest at 5'9 with 2500-2800 cals a day and scale weight around 155 lbs. I love the sound of that...

I met w/Mr All Natual Body Builder last night and guess what his number 1 diet recommendation to me was... carb cycling. You ladies suggested it over 3 weeks ago and I didn't jump on then wagon then. Guess it's time to now! He suggested three low days followed by one carb loading day. Do you agree?

This week it's under 1000 per day. A few cans of tuna and 2 granola bars. Haven't been hungry yet.

Why? are you stranded on a desert Island? or are you on the Fox Network's latest reality show: 'How to lose LBM and get Fatter in 30 days'....

unless your body weight is 85lbs, you are not just wasting your time, you are going get the reverse of what you want.

I'm following bodyweight x8-10 for my calories. Macros: 40 f/15c/ 45 p on cardio days; 30 f / 20c / 50 p. Refeeds, once a week, maintenance cals (30 f / 30c / 40 p

I've been dieting for just a little over two months, right now I'm going at about 1500 a day with two days a week at work I'll do higher calories. Like today I ate two foot long roasted chicken honey oat sandwhiches from Subway and I was nothing but a blur at work I was going so fast. But just eating 1500 cals a day I still feel full and have energy. Just when I eat higher calories I go insane with energy. Almost 220, started at 255 and boy I can tell a difference.

How come you have so much energy? Would you put it down to motabolism, or supps or drugs(prescribed or otherwise?)?

How much are you guys training. hiting the gym? Daily?

Even if your completely sedentary a guy taking in 1500 calories at 220+ lbs is plain ignorance and stupidity. It's a sure pathway to failure/starvation with the activity level most aquire on this forum.

2200-2400k for me macros 40/30/30 or as close as poss still cutting. Have been doing this since i started here but adding a couple hundred more whilst im doing Starrs 5 x 5 for maintenance (still cutting).

:dodgy: Cutting right now... 6 foot 224lbs.... 19% BF.
1650-1800 cals per day.

Workouts get tough considering I am around 55% under maintenance.
