More calories are gonna be needed for those who go higher and higher above their natural genetic limits. I used to be able to gain muscle on 4,000kcal per day for the longest time, but once I get over 240-lbs+, I have to continuously bump it up to put on muscle (ond of course weight gain).

At some point, it is gonna come down to increasing both calories and AAS use for serious lifters pushing the limits of growth.

5000 a day or more, but need to do a cut so I will drop to 3000 for a few months.

very very very few need more than 3800-4k cals to put on some nice mass.....
I'm one of the very few but I wish I could bulk on 4k a day it would be alot cheaper than what I have to do now. I have an unreal metabolism as do a few other people in my family, but it makes dropping fat easier and I don"t have to starve myself to drop any bf. My grandmother is 5"2' and 80lbs and has to eat 3k a day to maintane her weight. I agree most don"t need that much food but some of us do.

I guess it depends on how lean you want to be, bro...I prob could eat 4,000 cals too and not be fat per se, but I def. wouldn't have the definition......i'm sure its your case as well.....

Maybe I just use more calories on a daily basis so I need more calories to maintain my weight. What people do on a regular basis decides what they need for calories.ex:type of work, cardio, time in gym, yard work.People that sit at a desk and go home and sit on a couch shouldn't need alot of calories to get thru the day.

I was thinking of bulking so I took the diet plan for a spin to see how it went, I was eating roughly 3500-4k a day and I managed to lose a pound both weeks. I'm an assembley line worker and I wasn't doing no cardio, just doing Bill Star's 5x5.

What you do for a living has a lot to do with what will be your maintence I think. I'm cutting and cutting. Was cutting on 2200 and I lost 4 pounds then almost 4 pounds again so I'm going to try 2400 for a spin this week. I don't want to lose too much too fast because I still have a gut and I'd hate to still have that little excess of skin hanging off my gut because I lost too much too fast. If 2400 makes me lose 3 pounds this week I'll pump it up to frigen 2600.

3000 +calories when bulking and about 2000 calories when cutting..
Very nice approach....moderate is the key! and adjust from there......my bet is 90% over 4,000 calories are either so juiced up or ABOVE 12-15%

To put on weight naturally I eat around 3400. My maintanance is 3000.

I usually eat around 250g Protein
350-400g carbs
60g fats

If I eat more than 3400 I put on too much fat. I find I don't need to go crazy on the eating else most of the gains become fat.

I'm 6'8 235lbs with roughly 9% bodyfat.

Was bulking at 6000 reaching 291 lbs. Took sick for a week +. Yesterday I totaled 5200. Decided not to force feed myself anymore. Still don't know how much weight I lost. Will start lifting again Friday.

Thats a freaking ton of cals but if you are close to 300lb, then I guess it's what you need.....still think it's a tad much.

I currently take in just under 2900 cals and I'm bulking........many people at wayy too many cals for their bodytype....

hmm today

bowl of cereal- like 200cals
3 egg omlette , plus bread plus cream chease milk- 500-600cals
dinner- chicken, asparagus- 200cals if not less so
around 1000, i need 1800 to maintain.

What were your stats before you started lifting and what are they now? Curious to know why you think most people eat way too much. Some people need more food than others just like some people overtrain easily and can't spend 6 days a week in the gym. This is about individuals with different needs who take the time to find out exactly what it is they need for their bodies to grow.

It ranges from 2700-4500 depending on what phase I am in. I am starting to get the impression a lot of people don't cycle their calories and I can't for the life of me imagine how you would make much progress without doing that.

Let's hear some more info. on this.
Are you referring to cycling cals. depending on whether or not you're cutting and bulking or just to shock the system a little bit?

I need about 1700 calories a day..... but who the hell have the time to track how many calories you eat per day.....

I envy all of you. I never have the time to track my calory intake or anything like that. I just eat to get big and I eat healthy. I try not to think about calory intake that much, cause I think bodybuilders get too caught up in couting their calories that they forget more important issues like quality of food and the source of calories. But, that's my opinion...

I have no idea! I'm new at all the fitness stuff and want to get a much greater body. Where can I find a list of the calories?

And what is a healthy amount of calories? Can anybody help me?

i eat about 500 calories every 2 hours, plus my 3 big meals that are 1000 plus calories each. i have eaten as much as 8000 in one day. I am ectomorphic, so it burns off pretty well. I am 6'2" and almost 200 lbs. bf is about 12% right now because of my calorie intake. i could drop it to 8% in about a month if i wanted. not even kidding. I am waiting to hit 220 then cut. i will look awesome then. And i m on anavar, so that will help the BF stay in a good range.

to loose weight while doing aerobic exercise 3-4 times a week i should be eating no more than 2000 cals a day?

today i ate probably more than 4000 calories. i had tacos w/ cheese for lunch, and a box of cheese its (1800 calories) during the evening, drinking 8 buds (140 calories per can)

now, i am not saying this is the best diet, but it makes me gain weight. i drink alot of water.

About 3000, give or take 400 cals. I hate trying to make an exact number or come really close, so I give myself a little more room. I always make sure I have plenty of protein though.

I am down to about 3500. Last month I was getting 4500, maybe 5000 and my strength gains were going through the roof, but my belly was growing at the same rate.

5'10" @ 125 lbs. and trying to add lean muscle weight. I'm struggling to even take in more than 2,000 calories. Stomach hurts and I am sick of eating.

Usually 2500-3000. I'll eat 4500+ if I'm setting myself for some big PR's. Since i'm cutting weight right now I'm doing about 1500 a day.

5000+ on training days. 4000+ non training days.

I've been as high as 8000 - 10,000 in the past.

Did you have any fast food in there to help you out? I could eat that much but I don't have enought time unless I wen to a fast food place. I eat 3-5k calories a day breakfast, snack in class, snack at work, eat lunch, snack at home, eat dinner, sometimes eat a snack before bed.

This is one of my bad areas so to speak. I work 10 hr shifts, train 1hr, have two kids in ball, it's so hard for me to keep an accurate count. I eat lean meat with no trans fat or at least no known trans fat. Plenty of veggies, and good carbs. I'm currently 242-247 trying to get down to 220 then 200 then 190. I don't know how to figure how many cal's I need to eat to lose the weight to goal ratio but I'm trying so hard to knock this fat off. I keep gaining muscle and def around arms and shoulders but my stomach and chest hast all the fats.

well how bout it how many do you eat?

Ive been on 5 weeks and ive put 21lbs on so far. Obviously some of it is fat and water. As i say, thats a minimum 5000, its usually more than that

WTF??? Is everyone getting ripped at the mo judging by those numbers lol I'm eating 4k a day with very little weight gain if any... gonna have a low carb day today, bump it up to 4.5k for four weeks on a mass building stage then four weeks getting shredded...

2500 k/cals daily protein heavy, low carbs and this is keeping me at 248lbs and 10% bf, will drop to 1800 for two days every two weeks no carbs and high protein and the the bf dips a little further.

currently between 2200 and 2500 a day, start my bulking cycle soon and increase calories to 3200 in the beginning and futher go to 4000+, so i vote for 4000
i'm about 13%bf , 6'1", 205-207lbs

Wtf? There's folks out there that eat less than 1000 Cal's per day... And trying to lose weight? That's gonna put u in starvation mode guys unless ur resetting ur metabolism with a high Cal cheat day.

Right about 3600 right now. I just started my cycle so it will more than likely be going up depending on how the weight gain goes.
