for me i bulk pretty clean, so cutting isnt very long....as far as when, i normally will do it right before summer to show off my hard earned muscle, although ive only been training for right around 2 years...
Well, I just came off a cutting cycle and lost 22 lbs. I'm 5'5" with a small frame and currently weigh 118 lbs (BMI 19.4). Yeah, I'm a skinny mofo! This is the first time cycling bulking and cutting so its like experimentation to me. I decided I'd start off cut and slowly and slow-bulk (less fat). I'm not a bodybuilder, I just hope to achieve a toned athletic look, somewhat like that of a fashion model. I hope you guys still respect me.
So thats my story...
How long do you spend cutting? I presume you cut around March to May. And how much do you lose during this time?
I laugh when people think this. It took 4 months of dieting at 1200-1500 calories and many nights of hypothermia to get down this low- My metabolism is only about average or less.
My normal weight if I consume 2700 calories and get a nominal amount of excercise is around 140-145 pounds. About 5 years ago I ate anything I could and bulked up to 165. I looked good in a sweater while sucking my stomach in (which I did every time I was in public and still do unconsciously, even when noone is around) but I didn't want to go to the beach as I had about 20-25 extra lbs of fat on me. I also had high blood pressure.
I'm willing to take things slowly and do this right this time. A good clean build takes time and discipline.
im going to cut for a month or two then bulk lean with fina to finish the test cycle and harden me up, I havent cut much in the past since im so obsessed with size but now ive got to fat to keep bulking
This seems like reasonable advice. I think its just finding what build I want for now then. I know I want a nice set of abs and low body fat, but I also don't want to be too skinny. So basically judge as I go, just as you were implying. It wasn't the answer I was looking for, but now I understand that I can't predict the future with much certainty, and that taking it as it goes is a much better solution.
