hey iron brothers, so i recently left the grocery store and found myself broke! holy crap bodybuilding is expensive. how do you guys save money on grocery shopping? i personally goto BJS for sweet potatoes, salad, tilapia and then i go costco for chicken, red potatoes, eggs and walmart for small things. i drive around and pick things up from different stores to save some money! share your secrets, how do you save on grocery shopping?

My biggest tip is buy from the reduced to clear shelf. Most supermarkets will reduce food the day before its "use by date" and put it display.. can usually get 25-50% off stuff..

This is one of my jobs at the butcher counter I work for so I always the the pick of the bunch and the best prices and quality.. I have a freezer full of steak, mince and turkey mince.. some stuff like chicken and fish you might need to be weary of tho

buy chicken tenders or breasts and bake them or cook them with low sodium veggie broth in a pan and you can add some BBQ sauce too (the good shit, not the shit with corn syrup) .. if you do not cook your meats they will spoil.

also learn to go fishing and grow your own veggies.. kale, swiss chard, peas are very easy to grow.

Rice and beans are cheap as hell for good carbs. You can buy dry beans super cheap. Beans & rice in 10lb bags - soak them overnight before boiling/simmering them.

Never skimp on them meats! I probably blow $75/week on good meat....that's for the wifey, too but she doesn't mow down 250g protein/day like I do.

Its also a good idea to buy your carbs in bulk, so you wont have to worry about buying them continuously, thats what l do, and its also helpful to consider buying a digestive enzyme supplement, this will improve the efficiency of your digestive system and you will be able to absorb more nutrients from your food, for example absorbing more protein from the same quantity of protein food

target does that with beef especially, and going on Monday they want to clear shelves for the tuesday/wed deliveries..

If you have access to butcher shops in small towns nearby that do private sale of chicken/beef/deer I can get whole friers for .49 per lb...

Does everyone buy sweet potatoes or yams? Out by me, if you ask for sweet potatoes everyone points to the yams and they say they're the same thing. Are they really the same? Are you guys really getting sweet potatoes when actually they're yams?

I usually have a game plan planned out of what my meals are going to be. Sometimes I stray off from that, like if I eat out.. but for the most part it is set in stone. I go shopping twice per week for fresh produce and only buy what I plan to eat. I don't like keeping extra food at my house because I am not very disciplined. If it is there, I will eat it. I have been known to kill a bag of oreos in one sitting. I just buy what I need and plan on eating the week of.

I buy meats in bulk. If a grocery store is having an unbelievable sale I will buy from there, but I usually buy my chicken breast from a local butcher shop. Their prices crush grocery store prices most of the time. They also have great deals on bundle backs of steaks and other meats.

And I was under the impression that sweet potatoes and yams were the same thing lol
