How come weights are made of metal

Elsewhere weights are made of plastic, rubber, concrete, and sand... no joke sand.

When I worked out in Wales... first of all it was hard to find weights... but the ones they did have were these huge plastic wheels. They were the circumference of 25 lbs plates... but 4 times as thick. Each one weighted 20 kilos (about 44 lbs.)

Found a set of my dads weights in my garage after cleaning it out recently. Plastic weights filled with sand. Loaded a million up on the bar and did power cleans in the garage. I would never buy them as they crack and warp and the sand falls out. I never knock free stuff though.

Wouldn't it be cool if you just had a bar with gravity censor on it, which would allow you to use a digital dial to configure a custom gravitational attraction and thus customize the bar to weigh any amount you want

until it broke and either u have yourself flinging a bar into the air about 20 feet, or you get pinned immediately by the max setting of 1000 pounds, burying itself into your chest. I guess thats why i go heavy in the power rack + )

Has anybody used manhole covers? I`ve always wondered about that. They`re pretty heavy, (I`ve had to remove them) but you would have to drill a hole in them.
