It was never a distraction to the actual soldiers. When you have special forces people writing in to newspapers and magazines saying they know full well who's gay and who's not and they simply don't give a shit because these people have proven to have their backs....who are we really appeasing by kicking out homosexuals? It isn't for the soldiers. And no flamer makes it through basic...these guys are all professionals cause it was beaten into you for months on end. These soldiers never made a spectacle of their sexuality, most of em just got caught coming out of gay or somehting like that when on leave.
