I need some ideas on flooring for a work out area I'm Setting up in my house... Aprox 265 sq/ft down stairs cement foundation. I want it to look nice and not some mats laid over the carpet I plan on taking the carpet and padding out and having some Friends I know that install tile for a living do the work for me but they told me there not familiar with rubber tiles so it's up to me to research and find something nice... If anybody here's done this any advice or leads on some good flooring please post up.

Lol that guys intense!

I actually thought about that and painting it with some garage floor paint, they have some real nice stuff for that but not sure how it would hold up if i dropp the weights on it... I kinda do wana get some bumper weights

You think cement would be nice if I painted it with some high grade epoxy? I have a nice house and it needs to look nice and be functional.

Use cork.

My gym is on the top level of the house. To keep it from shaking the house, I had layers of plywood and high density rubber installed. Then the top level is cork. It looks very finished.

Do you ever drop weights? Would it hold up to that? And any chance we can see a pic?
Sounds like you put alot of thought and effort into it, must be nice.

Damn bro that is one hell of a home gym! That room 500sq/ft?
I was just doing some googling reading up on cork, thanks for the lead on that.

It's about 800 total. There are a few curves in the walls, so I couldn't go to the edges in every direction.

I like having a gym at home, but I also prefer to work around noon which is when my 2 year old naps. So more often than not, I drive to a gym about 12 minutes away.

Awesome gym bro, I love it

You ever need to donate weights, let me know

Also, I love the cement look when they put that shit on top of it. I think it looks awesome

Plunkey that's an awesome set up for a home gym, I have one but it's so damn jam packed full of shit that you can hardly move. I'm thinking of shit canning the tread mill, bike, and the tanning bed to get more room.

That home gym is nicer than the old-ass 24 hour fitness I go too. I've been going to the same location for 16 years and they've never once upgraded anything.

I so wanted to put a little something weird in the background of the pics (i.e. anal-eze or a dildo), but I didn't have anything outrageous enough.

What I did, was put those jigsaw piece interlocking black rubber 2-foot by 2-foot tiles, and it's held up great for 3 years and counting! They do have nicks in them from dropping dumbells, but it's a weight room anyway. They look like real gym mats, but not near the cost. I got them at Costco (8 of them for about $20), but OSH also carries them, and Lowe's has them but they're all weird colors (no black). Here's the Costco link, but the ones they show here are different pattern from mine (mine are diamond plate style).

Archimedes wood suggest immersing the gym in water to determine its dimensions given the irregular shape

assuming the gym isn't water soluble

just sayin'

Additionally, orthogonal algorithms to determine 2D or 3D dimensions could be developed from construction plans & specs
