hip hop is dead

yeah I gotta agree......since about that time frame, I've only liked maybe.....2, 3 songs at most a year it seems.......

I'm glad NAS said it
i've gone 100% underground
i just can't relate to bling/guns/drug dealing
so-so on lil wayne

only reason Nas said it is to start a media fiasco to sell records

same reason he tried naming his new album Nigger

publicity stunt

Really funny cartoon......pretend that I'm black so that it's "okay" for me to post this.......

It really is a good cartoon.......cartoon network at night, check it out

good hip hop is out there. you just have to find it. and the radio is definitely the wrong place. sirius has some decent stuff. dj premier friday nights etc. itunes has a couple good stations.

Perfect analogy, because some people still care.... based on marketing...
nobody pushes people to like rap because of commercials and TMZ

people listen to it because they enjoy it

agreed and some of us relate to what is being said, even in the commercial shit. there are people out there grinding that listen to this, its workin music, lol rick ross plies fat joe etc.

You ain't much in touch with pop culture....I was pressured to drink, smoke and use drugs based on pop culture eighteen years ago.....

another bad analogy

music one enjoys is based on taste, not peer pressure

I hate pop music, I hate country music, I like a little bit of rock music and I like hip hop

As a teenager, everything is based on peer pressure....did you actually live as a teen and try to understand the things going on around you?

My friends liked the country and I preferred the heavy metal, I was given outside pressure to like country and I do like some but it ain't my genre. Weaker children would go with the decision that would make them accepted in the social group they wanted to be involved with...kids make decisions all the time based on peer pressure.

Seems like you were just gullible growing up "I drank and did drugs based on music"

Noone around me listened to rap when I was growing up, how come I like it?

I also don't like pizza, yet all my friends did growing up.

It's based on taste, either you like it or you don't

pretty simple

i'm just glad as a kid I wasn't running around doing drugs and robbing stores based on the content of music I was somehow marketed into listening to lmao

rap marketing did convine me to try blunts and drink hennessey
i hated both at first, now i can't get enough (though i currently am not blazing)

Dancin came cool again then came "Walk it out..."
but i didn't know what the fuck nigga was talking bout

and lol @ calling out laffy taffy. this song optimizes all the bullshit ive thought about hip hop in my head the last 5-6 years

really good song and concept. budden has always been dope. really underrated lyricist...alot of people only knew him for his commercial hits awhile back, but hes really talented

Wow , this is a good discussion...
To be honest , if you hang out with a certain crowd , I have a hard time believing that their taste in music in some way shape or form won't rub off on you.

LOL @ Nas
I agree that Nas generally gets dissed for not selling records. So to be honest I don't blame him for trying to create a circus. But I also agree that alot of Nelly / 50 Cent pop rappers get alot of air play when more deserving battle rappers w 1000x harder lyrics go hungry. Bout time someone said it

nas is a little bitch as a person(he gets no respect from anyone in queens anymore) and goes crazy every couple of years. Cormega, nature, AZ...all hate him.

but you cant deny his talent and what's he done for hip hop. so as a person, i think hes a doosh. but as an artist/lyricist, i love him

kinda like kanye

Well doing what the records say and doing what your boys suggest are 2 different things. I don't know of anyone that actually shot cops because NWA said "Fuck the police" however I do know of people that shot cops cause they sell crack. Well I guess I should say knew cause all those dudes are probably dead. The streets claim lives

Kanye is another dude who went hungry trying to do what he loved. Having said this I can't knock the man. He also gets respect from me when he basically cried on national TV and said "George Bush don't care about black people" That could have been a career killer... Anybody who stands up for what they believe in like that gets respect even though his massage was a little misplaced

Oh yes he did. Same video as his cut his balls off comment.

Jesse is scared that if Obama wins he has to get a real job. LOL.

Jesse's been milking the civil rights stuff for a long time. Poor guy just can't find much to be pissed about.
