Well with all their anti-gay propaganda and conservative agenda, I would sort of expect them to practice what they preach, wouldn't you? But alas, the hypocrisy cuts deep through their ranks.

I honestly don't think this is true; there are conservative - middle - and liberal republicans; the conservatives are who you often hear on this topic.

I think it's more about stereotypes - conservative republicans tend to be elitist Christians so being involved in a same sex or any sex scandal would makes these people mere mortal heathens and that's really the whole point of kicking them off their self given pedestals.

In fairness, here are two Repubs that did the right thing when learning of their party's underhanded ways in regards to be deceptive and sneaky. They quit.

It would sort of be like me proclaiming my devout Christianity and joining the Christian Coalition.....why would someone join a political party that is antithetical to who they are on a very basic level?
