Can anyone tell me why I have trouble doing a full squat??? It seems I can't go all the way down without lifting my heels or doing something wrong and this totally messes me up when I'm trying to do cleans because it makes it so that i don't squat down and i end up doing it wrong. Any tips, experiences, etc would be very very helpful. I want to fix this problem as soon as i can.

it feels like i cant go squat all the way down unless i have my feet farther apart and when i have them say shouler width or a little bit wider than that i cant do a full squat

You need to be flexible every where....espc in the calf muscles. get someone qualified to help with over all lower body stretching.

I like to get into the lowest position of a squat (with no bar or weight) and sink as low as i can, kind of pushing myself lower and into a better position. then with just the bar repeat, trying to limber up at the bottom.

this helps me a lot

are you leaning forward too much....you might be off balance.

do you have anyone coaching you? Try and find someone to help.

Its kind of hard to figure out what is happening over the internet.

Yea i know... it's just I don't really have a coach or a trainer to help me. My working out is pretty much a solo mission. I have a friend I work out with but he is more unexperienced than me in lifting. So I just have to do what I can to figure out what I'm doing wrong..... I don't think that my flxibility is that bad. It might be though if it is i think its in my hips because it feels weird in my hips when i do it, or at least when i try to do it. I know it's hard for you guys to tell what is happening but I really appreciate any feedback at all or any experiences that youve had. ANYTHING THAT MIGHT HELP ME AT ALL!!

most likely you have some very tight hip flexors...stretch them

use some overhead squats and drop squats to work flexibility and form...use some type of flat stiff shoe...try box squatting and really learn to sit back when you squat...turn sideways to a mirror and with your hands in front of your chest work on arching your back and pushing back with your hips then let your knees bend slowly...check the mirror on the way down if your knees are coming forward more than an inch or two then you're not pushing back far enough
