Help with testing my father

Tpetrat

New member
Hey guys my father is in his late 60's and has all the signs of low t but doesn't want to go to a trt dr because he doesn't believe in that stuff... I was just wondering if there was some at home test or some way I could see where abouts his numbers are without going through a dr yet. Thought I heard something about a swab test u can do through the mail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also he's located around Sarasota,Florida if anyone knows any drs around there.

Thank you!

Only accurate way is a blood test, I wouldnt trust a saliva test.

Florida is home to all sorts of TRT clinics. They will likely require their own labs so I wouldnt waste money getting labs done in advance unless he needs that as proof before he will listen. You can order labs online then goto a lab to have blood drawn.

He has likely had low T for so long he doesnt even realize what he is missing. search the web for some low T questionnaires and see if he will answer the questions for you. He can likely feel so much better but he has to want it and be willing to pay for it.

saliva test is very accurate. you can get a basic testosterone test on amazon for like 30 bucks. from there, if its low you could have him see a doctor

Surfx is correct, I should have been more clear. The saliva test can confirm low T but for proper diagnosis you really need the whole picture, total, free, E levels, DHEA etc. If you think that would be enough to get your dad to a doc may be worth a shot.

Look, you have to get him to realize that testosterone does a whole lot more than the sexual stuff. Ask him how he feels about a busted hip. Google the term "effects of low testosterone" and you'll come up with articles like this: Common Side Effects of Low Testosterone in Men

He may think that testosterone just effects sex drive and he may very well have a perfectly good reason for not wanting an increased sex drive (did you ever think about that?) But make him aware of the other effects of low T ... for that matter, it might not be low T, it could be other hormones, like low thyroid.

You can't trick your father into taking a hormone test because even if he does test low exactly how do you intend to get him to take his medicine if he doesn't believe in it? You have to educate him/help him educate himself. Depression, sleep quality, bone density, things like that, help him realize that T is about more than boners.
