I've been having a really hard time bringing my head & shoulders up first when I start using heavy weight.

The negative is perfect, my glutes push back I sink my hips down and my torso lowers slightly. But when it's time to drive back up my hips are the first thing that go.

I don't think it's a weak lower back thing, my deadlift is above my squat. I don't have anyone who can watch me either, the gym isn't choice.

Basically once I dip below parallel my back rounds a bit and that's game. But only with the heavier weights.

I was thinking about incorporating some good mornings or suspended squats.

Can I get some thoughts?
thanks

gms will feel good for the lower back, try to incorporate some box squats, you'll see some good benefits from them.

i don't like the squat because of the amount of pressure there is on the knees...i prefer the leg press, although the squat is known to stimulate the muscles a little more

I used to get this on reps that were close to failure.
Obviously your body is trying to find the easiest way up, exposing a weakness. What I'm not quite sure. I find by concentrating on driving through your heels, and pushing the head back first you can overcome that tendency.

DO some hypers they helps.

Could be a flexibility issue when the lower back rounds at the bottom.
