Help with band set-up

Hey guys, I finaly got my mini's for benching and squatting but i'm having a problem with the tension on bench. I dont have a power rack so I cant use the pins so I use db's instead to anchor the bands to the floor. If I just go and loop the band from the db to the bar then there is no bottom tension but if I double loop the band then there is way too much tension(at top of lift the 40db's are lifting off floor). I searched for picks of the bottom position of the bench press with bands on but couldn't find any. Can you guys tell me how you have your minis so you have bottom tension. Thanks!!

band set up

I don't have my bands yet, but I've seen them do it in the westside tapes. Try looping the band through the dumbell to the bar, and then take the top of the band that's around the bar, and wrap it around the bar once or twice. It's hard to describe, but the band will be going around the bar twice or three times and then down around the dumbell. Just keep wrapping an extra time around until you have proper tension. If you don't understand hopefully somebody else will explaIn better or post a picture.

You'll be needing another set of bands real soon. The mini bands are really only for benching unless you are real new to lifting and haven't developed a lot of strength yet. I would get at least the pink and green bands also.

Thanks guys.
1dawg, I bought two pairs of minis so could I just use two at once instead of a pink for squating? My squat is only 350 so I didn't think I needed green bands.

i just started using the mini's too and here is what i do.

i loop it around the 60lb dumbell - go around the bar - then back down and looped around the dumbell again.

the problem with this is that the db's roll out with your bench.

so i roll the dumbell where the handle is in the corner of the bench and put a 35lb plate up against it so it doesnt move

hey it works for me.
