HELLLLLLLPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that weight training hurts your eyes. Is that true? Has anoyone else heard of this? Is it true that weight traning can cause your eyes to deteorate?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! I am so sad! I wear glasses and suddenly I notice my left eye getting worse. WHAT GIVES????

What should I do? I do not want to stop working out, and i do not want to go blind either.

Any advice?
Thanks!

Yeah it does hurt your eyes. It makes you short and makes your penis shrink, too.

Stop lifting weights!!!

One time my dad told me:
"Son...if you don't stop masturbating...you're gonna go blind."

I said "Dad...I'm over here."

I knew a cop who had this problem. He explained it as though he was looking through water. He went to the doc. Turned out he had a large vessel in the brain pushing against part of the optic nerve. So any time he benched the pressure from the vessel would mess up his vision temporarily. I told him to try the upright benchs such as the Hammer Strength machines and see what happens. I haven't seen him since so I don't know what happened.

Crap@!!! I hope that he did not die.,....

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He isn't dead. I asked another cop I knew if he'd seen him around and he said he had. He didn't know what the outcome of the eye thing was. If he was dead I would have heard about it. I don't mean to scare you with stuff like this. But weightlifting really increases the blood pressure at the time of the lift. I know on a couple of occasions I've finished up with bloodshot eye. There is a lot of pressure on these little capillaries. And the eyes aren't the only places where tiny capillaries exist. They are all over. Including inside the brain. I've heard plenty of horror stories about people having hemorragic strokes during weight lifting. Usually when the head is below the level of the feet as in the vertical leg press. I suspect that a lot of these stories are so much BS, but there are probably people out there that have 'bad' genes and pop one every once in a while. Case in point would be Cory Everson. I can't remember if she popped one or had a plate fall on her head. Anyway here's the site of her ex-hubby Jeff. Email him. I'm sure he knows the scoop. By the way, if you don't already know, you can get a free subscription to his magazine at this site.

I am so happy that he is alive.

So what you are saying is that I need to keep my head above the body to avoid too much blood flowing there? Thank God that I started to do Squats instead of Leg Presses.

Do you know any exercises that might be dangerous for eyes? (like vertical leg press)

BTW, I dont see the link to that site! Can you please post it?

weightlifting is static exercise. as suchit send the blood pressure way up!. if u wanna see how much get a guy to bench heavy and watch the side of his neck. his venous system (veins) particularly his jugular will fill up with blood and become very prominent.

how this relates to the eye thing....well for the eyes to feck up, most liely your inetrcranial pressure has gone up and is stooping the transmission of a cranial nerve that transmits optic information.

this can happen because 1)something in your brain haemmoraged (a blood vessel popped because of trauma or soething in your blood|)
2)something is mechanically blocking the arteries (i.e. an atheroma of fatty deposits...like in heart attacks!)
3) u have an inherited genetic defect causing a weakness in the walls of the arteries, causing them to ruprute more easily.

this is why if you weightlift, yyour blood pressure goes up and can cause these nasty haemmorages etc. but if you dont have a genetic tendency, its unlikely, think about it, the goventments would be screaming at everyone to stop lifting weghts otherwise!

the left eye could be anything, including such things as glaucoma! that can make you go blind, but if you get it treated you can hold it in its tracks. you might just be imagining the whole thing. safest thing is to get that mofo checked out aiight
:)

But what if I do? (hopefully not). What should I do then? What should I do to keep weight lifring and not go blind?

Reply please!
Thanks!

dude....dont get worried!

it might be nothing, it might be something. seek medical attention by seeing your doctor and explaining the situation. he will then test certain reflexes on you involving your face, eyes and stuff to see if it is a cranial nerve or something. he'll also check for glaucoma and other things. it is also very possible that this is psychosomatic and your getting too woried and imagining the syptoms and nothings really wrong! yopu wont know and no-one will be able to tell you over the nternet for definate unless you get it checked, DONT BE APPREHENSIVE, THERES NO REASON TO!

if it was me personally and my left eye was getting worse(as opposed to both) id leapfrog the opticain and go straight to my doctor. if the weightlifting is aggrevating it then take a break for a week till you see your doctor, it wont kill you and u wont lose that much mass! but you have to do that (SEE A DOC) if your feeling even slightly worried about it!

ps. the only reason i said all that crap earlier was just to point out what your friend was telling you doesnt happen to all lifters, just in those cases and why.

your doctor will answer all questions about weights etc, so maybe write down qall your questions briefly before u go in! hope this helps :)

HOLY FATHER! I measured my blood pressure and it is at 140/100. That is ALOT FOR ME!
My last workout was on Thursday. I did lots of squats (for the first time) and new stiff leged deadlift max.

I usually have 120/80 blood pressure. But this!!!!

My question is, as my blood pressure levels out (hopefully soon). Will my eye sight restore to what it was before?

Reply please!
Thanks!

theres no way of knowing unless you get it checked to see if you have raised intracranial pressure. good news is iof you did you'd probably be dead right now thata why i was saying you should see a doc, as it could be anything, or nothing! the only way anyone can know is by checking themselves. the left eye might just be a corneal scratch which will heal

as for the blood pressure, i dont think its meant to stay high after u do weights, least not that long. but if your excited...or worried, your BP goes up...so maybe thats why!
hope this helped :)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA LMMFAO!!!!!! That shit had me in tears!!!!!!!

I diagnose it as a very severe case of OpticRectumitus.
This is a situation where your Optic nerve has a direct connection to your asshole and you have a shitty outlook on life.

Stop all weightlifting. Seriously..... you can injure yourself at ANY TIME!!!!!!!

Then again, you can injure yourself crossing the street or getting of the couch.

There are no such things as exercises which hurt your eye sight.

You just proved my point: My post was Mar. 29. The thread was effectively dead. Then, 7 days later, you revive it. Way to go, Matt!

I am not defending SSAlexSS. I disagree vehemently with many things he says (102 set of arms, Arnold is gay). That's why it pisses me off that you dig up unpublicized threads. You are giving these subjects a greater exposure, which is the last thing that needs to happen. I like reading interesting, thoughtful, educating threads. Not this drivel. Why don't you try starting your own thread for a change instead of digging up other peoples' errors to gloat over?

fair enough.

i'll post one sometime this week...hopefully i can make it interesting, i will have to put some thought into it.

If your really worried about it go see a eye doc. They will know more about it than most will on here. I kinda notice the same think but i don't know if its from weight lifting. Some peoples eye site gets worse as they age, one eye may loose it faster than the other. Probably nothing to worry about man.

good responce man!

I think its an awesome thing that people are digging this tit-wank's posts up and taking the piss....no one can defend what this guy has said about him because he asks for it with shitty comments and ludacris statements he makes.....hes a jackass....and everyone should pitch in and have a good ol' reponse to each and evry stupid thread this clown starts just to piss him off for wasting peoples time.
